Cabbage Key is a 100 acre island located five miles off of Pine Island, FL in the Pine Island Sound. The Inn, built in the 1940's by the family of Mary Roberts Rinehart, now houses our famous Restaurant & Dollar Bill Bar and six guest rooms. The rooms in the Inn are all different with old Florida charm - they do not have TVs, phones, or refrigerators. We have seven cottages on the island, ranging from a 1 bedroom/1 bath cottage to 3 bedroom/3 bath waterfront units. All cottages have refrigerators, televisions (no cable) and coffee makers, some units have full kitchens. Our restaurant is open seven days a week and serves breakfast, lunch & dinner. If you want to relax on a beach...we do not have one here. But, Cayo Costa is a close kayak or boat ride away. This is a great retreat to discover "Old Florida", relax with a book, fish from our docks & watch the boats go by.

Having rented a 26' deck boat the 4 of us set sail for some deserted islands for shelling and a slightly busier island for lunch. Cabbage Key is a treasure. It was very busy but the dock guide got us in in a minute. The island itself is small but enticing. A nature walk and viewing tower complement the cabins... More

Rebecca was so excited to hear your compliments and wonderful feedback! Our kitchen staff was also very happy to hear the meals they served were so well received. Our walls in the back dining room and bar area are covered in dollar bills from previous guests, amounting to about $70,000! Every year, we donate every dollar that falls from our... More

We rented a boat and spent the day fishing and exploring the area. Stopped by Cabbage Key for a Creeper and lunch. Our server, MARCIE recommended the smoked salmon as a starter which was terrific! We had cheeseburgers, shrimp salad and the black beans and rice with Mahi! Everything was perfect! We will be back!

Take the ferry from the Captiva Marina to Little Cabbage Key and you will discover a a slice of old Florida paradise. This is the unadulterated, classic Old Florida made of dreams. Feel the history and plenitude of the sea which has been navigated by fisherman for centuries. Gasparilla sound is full of sea life: turtles and Dolphins. If you... More

Dolphins do frequent our waters, and they are a sight to behold! They love playing in the waves kicked up by boaters coming out for a rest and a quick Cheeseburger in Paradise. While we are off the beaten path, lunchtime can still be quite busy and a bit noisy. We always invite our guests to check out our dinner... More

This is a super quaint little island that is privately owned. The dock hand was very helpful upon our arrival. There's a restaurant and some rental cottages on the island. Be sure to take the 15 min walking nature trail around the island. Climb the water tower for spectacular views. Visit the giant gopher tortoise nests of Speedy, Michelangelo, Donatello,... More

We have been here 30+ times with babies, young ones, teens, and now our adult children. We have brought grandparents, sibling, inlaws - you get the picture. We had a lovely boat ride from Boca Grande and were waved in and directed exactly where to go by the ever acerbic and gruff dockmaster. If you are looking for warm and... More

We arrived by boat and Joe, the Dockmaster that afternoon, was so welcoming and polite! He steered us in and was very courteous with all of our questions. We had been before and had a "character" of a Dockmaster who reminded us of your typical "salty dog", part of the island ambiance I guess...lol. We were very impressed with the... More

Cabbage key is just what you want - a secluded place with dolphins adjacent to your boat on the way in and a great burger joint for lunch. So gald to have had this experience.
