Wow what beautiful place! My daughter (7yo) and I stumbled across Freeman’s organic farm accidentally while exploring out that way. Farmer David, Nadia and Ryan were all wonderful and inviting to this amazing place.
We enjoyed picking out delicious organic produce to take home, which my daughter loved, and a hot drink by the Wood fire which was very welcome on a winter’s day while we looked out over the stunning valley view. They’re also doing amazing work with Veterans here. And soon there will be alpacas, another feature to add to this special place.
A highlight was undoubtably meeting “Prince” the resident farm dog; an instant friend :)

This is a beautiful place! Farmer David and his staff were friendly and welcoming, and went out of their way to help us choose the perfect organic vegetables, drinks, and pastries. We also loved the hearing about the history, the valuable support for veterans, the views from the look out (you can see the ocean!) and tips to enjoy the most out of our short time in this beautiful part of Australia. If we were locals, we would be regulars!

The attraction is on Tomewin Mountain Road, Freemans Stall, selling organic vegetables but they have a great coffee stand with lovely views friendly service and board games to play while overlooking mountains in the distance. They sell delicious homemade cakes and smoothies
The Organic Vegetables are grown on site and the farm has been in the family for over a 100 years.
It is a family friendly place to stop on the way between Murwillumbah and Currumbin Gold Coast
This is a place anyone can visit, couples, friends or family on the way through but a few go solo and enjoy the solitude and vistas especially first thing in the morning from 8 am

If you’re into organic farming, talk with David Freeman, 5th generation farmer, ever so passionate about healthy food and lifestyle. A cute little coffee place with all of the goodies being made organically and includes ingredients from the farm. I’ve been taking the beautiful little mountain journey for years for my seasonal fruit and veg.

This has been a regular destination just up the road for us from Currumbin. We have taken countless overseas and interstate visitors here over the last couple of years but sadly no more. We have also bought great organic produce and swoon at the views down through the Currumbin Valley. The current people who have the food/coffee contract seem to bumble their way through the morning with extremely disorganised, unfriendly and slow service along with barely average food. Really? In such a pristine “organic” environment we have bacon buns done on the bbq??!! When asked if there were cakes at 10.30am the response was “I haven’t had time to get them out yet”. Oh dear, lots to learn in Hospo 101 right there. I’m saddened that the last young woman has gone as unfortunately so are we 🙁

How long do you live somewhere before you’re a local? If you're a Freeman of the Freeman’s Organic Farm in Currumbin Valley it may be over 100 years. Well that's longer than most of us, so safe to say this family is definately local.
Come along to visit, enjoy and experience this amazing place and they'll share with you the secrets to running a successful business for over 100 years.
Our adventure begins
Our adventure to Freeman’s Organic Farm began as we passed under the white wooden pergola marking the entrance to the picturesque farm stall and lookout. We met with the bustle of locals selecting organic fruit and vegetables from the stall,
enjoying sweet delights from the farm cafe ieightcake and preparing for the farm tour with David Freeman, one of the generations of Freeman's who run the farm.
Scenic views is the understatement. As we took in the giant trees, picnic tables, vegetables, herbs and bright flowers in the rustic garden beds David came over and introduced himself, he was friendly and warm and obviously delights in his role.
On his suggestion we settled in the shade beside the Arthur Freeman Lookout while our boys ran around the gardens. Off came our shoes as we stretched out and enjoyed a coffee. Our kids were busy and we were relaxed – the perfect combo for a Sunday morning. If only we weren’t so controlled by ‘nap-time’ in our house we would have stayed on through the afternoon which boasts live music on a Sunday.
The Farm Tour
One could easily forget amid this relaxation that we came to experience the farm tour. While we waited, a happy line of customers purchasing organic fare drew our attention. We could overhear a customer inquiring if David had any more fresh kale and collard greens as the stall had run out. It was not a problem for this farmer as he jumped in his truck, disappeared into the depths of the farm and returned moments later with bunches of fresh cut greens. They were young, vibrantly coloured, organic, at reasonable price and so the customer bought the lot.
As the morning warmed up the walking tour was announced and we journeyed our way through the stunning farm, vegetable garden (grown on David’s mothers former grass tennis court), banana plantation and fruit laden avocado trees. As we moved past epic compost piles and a spring fed dam David related the history of the area, of his farm and of the concepts for successful organic farming. His passion for organic farming was infectious. By the time he mentioned his organic farm course commencing in June of 2017 the whole tour group is ready to sign up.
By the end of the tour our kids were exhausted (success!), we were invigorated with the concept of organic farming (even on a small backyard scale) and we had had the pleasure to try the organically grown bananas, avocados, tomatoes, kale and greens straight from the garden. Our kids encouraged to touch, smell and experience a farm and its produce - which was a highlight for us all.
It's normal to feel a little sad when it comes time to leave a place you've truly enjoyed and I can honestly say our car was very quiet on the way home. No need to stay gloomy though, Freeman's Organic Farm is open every day of the week!

This treasure is not to be missed. The freeman family have lived here for generations and have only recently in the last few years opened up their stunning farm for the public to enjoy. Saturday's or Sunday's are the best time to go although you can buy produce on other week days. You can buy organic fresh produce straight from the gardens which enjoy the most stunning location, perched on the side of stunning currumbin valley outlooks. Often David has live music and there is stunning places to sit out and enjoy locally brewed coffee and home made cakes. The most special part I think is the local friendliness you will experience by all the people who work at the farm. Whatever you do, don't forget to buy bananas here....these are by far the best and tastiest bananas I have ever eaten. I will be back for sure

Sometimes life seems to pass by in a blur, other times its moving at a snails pace. I can remember longing for Easter to arrive as a kid...now I freak out when the Easter eggs fill the shelves at the supermarket (but this is also due to how much earlier this seems to happen each year!)
When Friday arrives each week, I, like most people require a triple shot cappuccino and a pat on the back. For many it's the day before the business of the weekend begins and marks the end of the business of the week. A milestone that should definately be celebrated with a ticker tape parade...or with cake, views, lovely things and great people.
If you are lucky enough to live (or travel) within driving distance to Freeman's Organic Farm then Friday might just become your new favourite day of the week. The happy team at Freeman's have put together a Ladies Day (though everyone is welcome) on a Friday at the beautiful location on from 9:00am-1:00pm. If your K9 child also needs a break then bring them along as well, as pups are most welcome.
Friday has become the unofficial day at this organic farm for ladies to come along and relax, have a coffee, eat a cookie and browse the Buy-Swap-Sell market that is being established in this mountain haven. This unique combination is proving popular with locals and the team at Freeman's Organic Farm want to make sure everyone feels welcome to stop by, hang out with other folk, have a yarn, pick up some cool bits and pieces and then head home for an afternoon nap (lol just kidding, you need to go home and get dinner ready)
More About Friday Family Day at Freeman’s Farm
The Friday Family Day at Freeman's Organic Farm Stand is an event not to be missed. Forget about everything else and take yourself (and your offspring) up to the farm for some fresh air, mountain views and to participate in strengthening the local community. There are parents, kids, couples and grandparents enjoying the grassy knoll on the day we go. There are colourful picnic blankets spread out on the grass, toys and child paraphernalia casually spread in the area. There is a feeling of comfort, community and sharing on this mountain. Together with the welcoming environment, this Friday space is set to become a very popular place for people of the Gold Coast.
What makes this Friday event so enticing is the Buy-Swap-Sell market that is open to everyone and anyone to come along and take part in, the only provision is that you have made or created the items you yourself. So yes, you can come and setup a stall yourself (just DM Ellice @freemansorganicfarm for details). With a focus on local products, strengthening local ties and providing an outlet for small businesses, including the many successful online businesses run by dynamic mums this market will only continue to grow in size and range of products.
What’s Hot at the Freeman’s Farm Family Day
Freeman's Organic Farm can be a really busy place on the weekend, great for them but can be a little hectic with kids in tow trying to navigate the farm stall and also eat giant pieces of cafe with your latte (and still looking sexy). The answer to this quandary is to head up to Freeman's Farm on Fridays. The Friday event has been setup to attract families, and specifically ladies and their kidlets to get in before the crowds and pick up fresh, organic fare before the weekend hits.
I am not someone who buys organic normally (you know....the price) but I have been converted by this place. The reason; it's reasonably priced (oh and packed with nutrients, goodies and grown only metres away). For our one-income family the amount we spend on food is of utmost importance. I can honestly say that this farm stall is reasonable for the amazing produce you get. It tastes a zillion times better than the hydroponically grown stuff from the supermarket, full of goodies for your tum and picked the day you buy. Enough said, try it and see for yourself.
The extras you might like to know about Friday at Freeman's Organic Farm Family Day
There is plenty of parking at the front of the farm stall and if this section is full, follow the road to the left of the entrance down under the trees for additional parking. There are restrooms down the driveway and ieightcake (the resident cafe) has cash and credit facilities. There are tables, chairs, shady tress, green grass and lovely garden beds to perch on if you desire and there are a range of activities on at Freeman's Organic Farm which you can keep up-to-date with by following them on Instagram.

What an amazing place to enjoy a coffee and a snack while you take in the amazing views. David Freeman and his family have a great piece of Gold Coast history and are more than happy to share it with you. They are more than welcoming and the tour is very informative.... the whole place goes above and beyond just being able to buy fresh organic fruit and vegies... I urge you to check it out. The drive is beautiful and makes a great weekend day trip!

Most beautiful trip out to Currumbin valley. David Freeman is one of the nicest people I have ever met. The produce is amazing and so so affordable. Stop in for a coffee, cake or a delicious burger. Walk around the farm and take in the scenic views.
