Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We are so glad we stopped in to Surf World. They have a great collection of boards and memorabilia. We took many pictures! It is reasonably priced and the docents were welcoming and fun to talk to. They also have small but fun gift shop with a good selection of old surf magazines to purchase. We brought a bunch home to our collector friends back in CA. We highly recommend visiting if you are interested in surfing history.

Lots of surfing memorabilia that goes back to the beginning of the sport in Australia. A focus on some of the Aussie greats of the sport - both men and women. Really enjoyed the time I spent here.

I have visited Surf World several times over the years. I am an avid surfer who loves the history of this sport. There are always new items on display not that it matters as I really enjoy looking at some of the same items again and again.

Surf world is an interesting display of the history of surfing. We had entry as a freeby from the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. The displays are well set up with video supporting many of the displays of old surf board and surfing paraphernalia.
Even if you aren't into surfing, Surf World provides a glimpse into Australia's past and its beach culture.
Surprise exhibit was an amazing wall of ukuleles - very apt

Wasn't really expecting to find this interesting but it was fascinating. Only a small place, staff friendly. We had free entry on the back of another attraction otherwise $10 I think. No air con inside so was very warm. If you are interested in surfing you would definitely enjoy.

Was quite surprised at how much I enjoyed looking through the museum. We came late in the day and bargained our way in. Not a great one for the kids, but thoroughly enjoyable for the adults. A great way to see some of Australia's iconic history.

Surf World explains it all. Plenty of historical surf boards and paraphernalia.
Also a few other items related to surf culture, such as a ukulele display.
There is also a video on Kelly Slater.

Spent around an hour looking around at the different board sizes and shapes.
Not a surfer but found it all quite interesting.
The staff were very welcoming also.

Cheap as chips to enter (not the usually expensive entry you find on the coast).
Great way to fill in a morning.

Staffed by ocean going volunteers, this is a fantastic attraction for everyone, surfer or not. Much of our history is based around the sea and Surf World really captures the surfing side brilliantly. There's one of the best collections of historical surf craft on the planet on display, along with in-depth explanations of each. Frequent talks, movies and event nights are always worth a visit too. On a daily basis, you can pretty much see the history of Australian surfing and surfers in this one place. Good fun. The volunteers are all very knowledgeable as well-ask your questions.
