Based at Currumbin Alley, the Gold Coast's most learner–friendly location, we offer year–round surfing lessons on the Gold Coast for people of all ages, sizes and ability levels. We are a fully licensed and insured surf school with a professional and enthusiastic team of surfing instructors. We are the original surf school at Currumbin Alley and we strive to make your surfing experience unforgettable!

So much fun learning here for the past 6 months! I am a newbie learner and find the instructors super fun, experienced and explain how to improve in an easy to understand way.
It's pretty great - there are young kids out there and folks in their later years in life! Which is super nice if you are looking for a family friendly and supportive place to learn regardless of your age or experience level.
The instructors all love surfing and this passion definitely rubs off in classes. :-)
I'd recommend signing up for at least a 5 pack to get a feel for the water, boards, surf and different conditions rather than a one-off.

Wow. What an incredible experience it’s been learning to surf with Keo and Johnny.
Keo took my two boys (9 & 8) out every day. His calm, fun style of teaching really resonated with them. He’d play word games with them while waiting for a wave and talk to them about surfing. He couldn’t have been a better role model for them to have while leaning this fabulous skill and having fun. His patience knew no bounds as did his positivity and support. Thank you Keo, you are fabulous.
Johnny took me under his wing and was able to gently but firmly teach me to surf. Every wave I caught he’d be able to tell me exactly what I needed to do differently to improve. He’s great company and made the whole experience unforgettable and so much fun. His love of surfing is infectious and makes learning this skill so much fun. He not only taught me how to get up in a board but how to keep myself safe in the waves and with other surfers boards. Thank you Johnny, you’re a wonderful instructor.

We have a young family of 3 daughters, ages 12, 11 and 8. From the moment we spoke with Sam we knew this was the right surf school for our girls to learn to surf. All 3 girls attended a group lesson for 4 days and it was amazing to see their development and improvement. It is a school who have quality surf instructors who understand children. Huge thanks to Wade who was an amazing surf instructor. His patience, teaching ability, empathy and fun was second to none. Thank you also to Gracie who always welcomed the girls with warm smiles, wonderful instruction and sense of fun. Thanks to Sam and his team, for your relaxed and accomodating approach. The girls had a fantastic fun time, building resilience and they all managed to catch their own waves which gave them a great sense of personal satisfaction. You guys rock!!

I am a 61 year old intermediate surfer who booked a private coaching lesson with Tom. Tom picked a great day regarding surf and when we went out he knew exactly where to sit to get some great waves and avoid the crowd. He had some great tips on how to improve my paddling into the waves so that I could improve my wave count, and overall surfing. Tom really knew his stuff and has made a substantial difference to my technique and also improved my confidence! A very nice guy. I only wish I had had the lesson at the start of my stay in Qld not the end!! Next time I am here I will definitely organise more lessons. Highly recommended for older surfers !

Every Tuesday afternoon my classmates and I go to surfing lessons at Currumbin alley Surf School. Surfing with Currumbin alley surf school is one of the best experiences ever. The staff are very friendly and help you every step of the way to becoming better at surfing. You have a great and enjoyable time with your friends. The staff are great teachers and in a week or two, you are already catching some of gold coasts best waves. One of the best staff members is Riley as he is very friendly, funny and great at his job. All the staff are great but Riley is the one that stands out the most out of all.

We had the best experience here. My husband who has surfed a bit, me (a complete newbie) and our two girls aged 9 and 10 who have not surfed before. Dom was an amazing instructor. She was especially talented with the girls, helped them a lot, put them at ease. We didn't go too far out, but the waves were great. The location was perfect for beginners.
Her instructions for all four of us on the shore were excellent and then once in the water, she initially helped my husband and I and then spent her time helping the girls (which was perfect as we were good to build on what she had taught us) and the girls really benefitted from her helping them with waiting for the right wave and when to get on the board, when to paddle etc.
I cannot recommend this place or Dom highly enough. Would actually love to do it again.

My niece and partner had an excellent first surfing lesson with teacher Johnny. They are visiting Australia from Europe. Both young people in their late twenties have never been even in the mildest surf. Today they experienced everything first hand with Johnny the teacher from the Currumbin Alley Surf school. Well I was watching everything and he had them standing up on the surfboard in no time. What a thrill and experience for them, thank you very much Johnny for a great lesson this morning. Highly recommend Johnny as teacher and the Currumbin Alley surf school to anybody wanting a positive and fun surfing experience.

I recently completed an 8 week adults surf challenge.
I was pretty out of my comfort zone but couldn’t have felt more at ease with Domi. There were usually 3-4 others in the classes which meant there was plenty of opportunity for her to help each of us.
I highly recommend giving these classes a go- even if you are a little uncomfortable and uncoordinated like me :)

Terrific private lesson. Within 45 mins my daughter, a relative beginner, was up on her feet and surfing. Tom was patient, encouraging and kind. Great experience and we'll definitely book more lesson.

Love our lessons with Currumbin Alley surf. My daughter enjoys her regular lessons with Tom and the crew. She is improving all the time and we love the safer river mouth option at Currumbin Alley. The staff are great at giving feedback and couching to improve every lesson.

about location this school? ...I will stay in surf paradise hotels after my education wont transfer for Palm beach area ore Currumbin,,, that Hotel match better stay. If I wont take safing lessons????

Hi there it's quite easy to catch a bus from Surfers Paradise to Currumbin. Our meeting area is just a short walk from the bus stop. Otherwise there are several hotels/resorts in the Currumbin/Palm Beach area to choose from. Hope this helps. Sam
