Great fun golf course but the experience goes beyond the 18 holes. From the moment we arrived (as full paying visitors) we were made to feel unwelcome. From the lady at reception to the two gentlemen in the pro shop to the members themselves - all unwelcoming, making out we were an inconvenience and in the way (eg attempting to overcharge us). The only friendly faces we saw all day were the bar staff (two ladies and Lars in particular) who were very accommodating. We spent over $1000 there on the day (fees, food, booze, merchandise) and the experience was marred by unfriendly staff. Will recommend friends who visit the area look to play / spend their $$ elsewhere despite the course itself being fun (and no reduction on fee despite a hole being out of play). We were warned about the less-than-welcoming people at LHI. Turned out to be true.

Don’t bother with this course if you are a golfer. Everyone packed onto the course, we waited with 3 groups on every tee. Was the slowest round of all time. A member I played with told me that it was always the same, and despite living on the course he was not going to renew his membership.
At every step the experience was awful
The driving range was closed.
There was nobody organising the first tee, so people pretty much made up their own groups.
From the 3rd onwards there were 3 groups waiting on each tee.
On the 6th, a group of obnoxious members came driving down our fairway shouting that we were too slow, and went roaring through while we were playing.
Of course they were waiting on the next tee when we got there, with the 2 other groups that we always stood with on every tee.
They didn’t apologise. They thought they were justified, and I then got to watch the morons hack their way around in front of us.
After 14 holes we had to give up. Over 4 hours to that point, but amazingly you have to return the carts by 6pm, even thought there is enough light to 7. To be honest though, any enjoyment was long since gone, so quitting after 14 was a good outcome.
The member I played with was a proper golfer.
And he is leaving.
If you are a golfer, give this course a Very wide berth.

I have been going to this golf course off and on since 1993 and would choose not to go there again. The last two times I have been since Links Golf and Wellbeing have taken over where disappointing experiences. A better name for the golf club would be Hopeless Island. The staff are discourteous, disingenuous and will steal from visiting golfers. I highly recommend avoiding this course. There are far better options on the Gold Coast.!

Hi Glenn, it's disappointing and concerning to read your review. It appears to include an allegation of theft and given the seriousness of this statement it would be appreciated if you would contact the Club Manager on 07 5530 9000. Thank you in advance.

I recently attended a wedding at Hope Island Golf club, an amazing venue that certainly does NOT live up to the "5 star" rating. The day and night were most memorable how-ever the one disappointment cannot not be overlooked. The $120 p/p food package consisted of 2 very average Aust wines and 3 selections of beer. The wait staff were poorly trained and were obviously on a "go slow" policy because there were empty glasses everywhere during the toasts, then the food....??? The selection of meats were obviously of a 3rd rate quality. The entree was a eggy tasting Leak or lack of fetta tart and the steak was obviously pre-cooked to the point of being very well done. The Canapes were virtually non-existent for 80 people...."Sooo hungry was the feedback from most of the guests, and Sooo disappointing was the feedback after dinner. DO NOT consider this place for a function or wedding their business practices regarding the packages are not what they seem. BEWARE.

My partner and I held our wedding reception at LINKS in August 2017 and our guests numbered about 50. Generally speaking the venue was great and the reception was enjoyable but the food was horrible. Our main meal was a small plate of overcooked and crumbling barramundi and non-cooked and bloody lamb rump.

They also overcharged us for drinks. Apparently our tab was used up in the first half hour – even though half our guests are non-drinkers and half our guests were not even present in the venue for pre drinks? Later on our guests complained that they did not get a drink and actually had to go and pay for their own? Their response “You were on a soft drink package and you and your guests could have had a soft drink at any time in the evening”. Sure but their staff were invisible.

Even worse they lost or otherwise removed our stuff. They deliberately threw out or otherwise misplaced two plates of sweets worth $200 plus dollars. Their blasé response “these sweets were taken by your guests”. As we were last to leave at 11 pm and a thorough check was made before leaving, their comment is complete bullsh..t.

We promptly returned at 10am the next day but no one was around? When we tried to approach them about our issues, their wedding planner was conveniently missing. When we emailed them, they did not respond for a week. When asked for their bar tab, they did not have one. And later when I called them I got the run around for two days and had to give up. I later sent a formal letter to their manager and received no response. In retrospection their staff were all very friendly and accommodating before the wedding, but after just don’t bother!!!

Had the pleasure of dining with a group of friends at the Links Golf Course restaurant - ladies chose the more formal white table cloth settings while the men sat at the more informal bar area. However, from all reports both ladies and men, the food was excellent with the only drawback being that orders had to be placed at the bar. No drinks table service for the ladies which was a shame but apart from this an enjoyable experience. Would recommend for all informal gatherings.

Very, very slow play which can happen anywhere but we expected better from a private golf club. As a links course the fairways were very good but the greens are no better than a public course and for $150 each per round on a Sunday we were disappointed. A member told us the course at Robina is much better and we found Sanctuary Cove in better condition.

Thought it would be lovely to have Christmas lunch at the Golf Club for 2017. Very disappointing as the food was a low standard for the $129 price tag. Prawns and oysters (the only seafood) looked like they were from the supermarket and there was a very small selection of everything. It was very noisy and the entertainment was also very poor - we were amazed they had a great performer only days before for a free concert and they should of had him for the Christmas lunch also. Such a shame as it's a nice spot and there is great potential.

They have double/ old fashioned dress code rules, as its ok for women to wear sandals/ thongs but not men. Women can wear singlets in a dress form, or other, but a man cannot. This is sexual discrimination.
They have a very small coffee machine, so they cannot handle a group of people. The Windows above their water feature is extremely dirty, the furniture is very dated, old fashioned, The drinking water appeared to be tap as I could smell and taste the chlorine. The staff behind the coffee machine are very rude through communication, (middles age asian looking women). Some of the other staff has been nice and friendly. Overall it's not a very good club, there is no lively/ friendly atmosphere.
When asked about the dress code rules, one member said is very old fashioned and out dated, when I challenged the double standards she had nothing to say.
Clearly they don't have a high customer care policy in place.
