A short walk from the car park and picnic areas takes you to the top of the Falls with good views away towards the coast. Best after rain, when we went there was very little water to be seen.

We didn't visit the picnic area at the top of the falls, but used the Warrie circuit hiking trail that crosses the falls on a causeway lower down. That was very spectacular, even though the falls (which in most places I'd be raving about) aren't that fantastic by Springbrook standards.…

I didn't know what to expect because of previous experiences in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales, but the lookout presented me with knockout and up-close views of these impressive falls. The day we were there rain had been forecast but hadn't eventuated, so the Falls were not in full spate. Nevertheless there was enough water flowing over to present a thrilling sight. The path to the lookout is easy, well paved and full of surprises. For example: one very much alive carpet snake about 2 metres long which was on the concrete platform of the viewing area slowly digesting some unfortunate prey!…

The lookout at Goomoolahra Falls faces east and provides great views of the buildings of the Gold Coast and beyond to the ocean. Particularly good at sunset as the lights on the Gold Coast begin to shine. As well it's a lovely picnic spot and great for the kids with a shallow creek and rock pools. If you're lucky you might see some rare frogs.…
