Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Located at the end of a narrow, sealed road pretty well on the QLK/NSW border, there are expansive views to the south and east taking in Mount Warning and beyond. Spectacular on a fine day.
There is a 600m walk to the lookout from the car park which takes you past a stand of Antarctic beech trees which are full of character. An easy walking path to and from the lookout.

This lookout certainly lives up to its name, it was by far the best on our recent day visit to the Springbrook Mountain, the lookout is located on the border of Queensland and New South Wales at the end of Repeated Station Road, Queensland. The path (700 metres return) is accessible to all, no stairs, sealed all the way with a bench seat at the lookout platform. The walk passes through prehistoric forest, checkout the ancient Antarctic Beech Trees 300 metres in on the path, they are protected within the Gondwana Rainforest of Australia World Heritage Area. Signs along the way to say to lookout for Albert's Lyrebirds and Richmond Birdwing butterflies, unfortunately we did not see any. The viewing platform is well positioned on the edge of the escarpment providing stunning views of the escarpment, over the Tweed Valley and down to Mount Warning in New South Wales. The best.

It's an amazing walk, take the time to stop and look at the scenery as it's constantly changing,
It's pretty steep and can be strenuous for those with leg ailments, but worth doing just take your time....let the fittest run ahead lol.
The ancient trees are spectacular
The actual view was shrouded in low cloud but was still magical asthe clouds rolled through the valley

Sure, if you need to stretch your legs after a long drive then by all means stop. But at busy times there may be other cars and it is just easier to stop elsewhere. The pictures show you what it is, it looks ok. Springbrook walking trails are better

Not a lot of parking at the walk entrance, but more nearby at the repeater station.
The 350m down a slight hill to a reasonable sized viewing platform out across the crater area to Murwillumbah and beyond.
Nice and brisk at the moment, a lovely outing

No wonder it is called the "Best of all Lookout".
With stunning views from the QLD/NSW wales border to Byron Bay, Mt Warning, Nightcap National park, the ocean and more.
The walk from the carpark is also a pleasant one meandering through the rainforest.

The Best Of All Lookout couldn’t have a more apt, albeit unremarkable, name. However the lookout is anything but unremarkable. It is a ‘gem’. On a clear day, the view from the lookout, southwards into the valley towards Mt Warning and Murwillumbah is – without any exaggeration - absolutely stunning and breathtaking. From its elevated position at the edge of an escarpment, the view is panoramic and goes on for miles on clear days! Other wonderful lookouts exist in the Gold Coast hinterland but this brilliant lookout takes the trophy.
Nestled in the Springbrook National Park, the lookout is located on the border between Queensland and NSW and only reachable by vehicle from the Queensland side, via Springbrook.
By road, the lookout is beyond the village of Springbrook and its famous waterfall, the Purling Brook Falls. Approximately 2.5km beyond the Purling Brook Falls turn off (Forestry Rd), take a right into Repeater Station Road. A modest carpark is located where this road terminates, approximately 3 km from the main road. The lookout is a short easy walk (about 200m) from the carpark.
Taking in both features, along with the nearby Canyon Lookout plus lunch at a cafe at Springbrook makes for a nice, leisurely day out. An alternative is to have a picnic lunch at, for instance, Purling Brook Falls or the Goomoolahra picnic area. The latter is located at the very end of Springbrook Road; so it’s virtually impossible to get lost.
Recommendation for a day trip:
- Best Of All Lookout
- Canyon Lookout (forego if time is limited)
- Purling Brook Falls & Circuit
- Brunch or lunch at Dancing Waters Cafe or Goomoolahra picnic area
- Natural Bridge (optional, time permitting)
There are quaint cafes at Springbrook, with the Dancing Waters Cafe closest to the Purling Brook Falls’ picnic area and carpark. The Dancing Water Cafe is a wonderful establishment that offers terrific wholesome meals and coffee. There are other cafes on Forestry Road.
Please read my review on Purling Brook Falls for further information.
Access:
Exit the M1 Pacific Motorway at Mudgeeraba and follow the signs to Gold Coast Springbrook Road. When northbound on the M1, take Exit 80. If southbound, take Exit 79. Note that the road is bitumen but narrow, winding and steep in parts.
In my subjective view, there are five ‘musts’ in the southern Gold Coast hinterland. Not in any order of preference, these are - O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat, Mountview Alpaca Farm, Natural Bridge, Purling Brook Falls and the Best Of All Lookout.
Thanks for reading this review and my gratitude should you rate it as helpful.
Life is short... Don’t put it off. Visit Australia and the Gold Coast today!
