Nice, comfortable and spacious for punters
I think that this Star casino is better than the one in Sydney. Mind you this is smaller but you can relax and play comfortably. Dealers seem to be more friendly as well. However just be careful that taxi drivers at the front entrance are likely to rip you off by not going by the meter. Also the cafe close very early in the evening.

    A great Gold Coast addition
Fresh, new, hip. A new addition to the Gold Coast. More than just a gambling venue. Great food, good vibes. Obviously when there is something new, people flock. Let’s hope it remains busy and not an eyesore.

Cleanest place i have ever stayed in
We really enjoyed staying here , the staff were friendly, the rooms were very clean and the beds are the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. We were on the 19th floor, parking was a breeze just a big shout out to the housekeeping they do an outstanding job. I normally like to stay somewhere different each time I visit the Gold Coast however next visit will be back here and for longer.

Mediocrity at its finest. It is very obvious they are cutting corners every chance they can get.

Level 6 pool area - witnessed a couple having intercourse in the pool and when the security guard questioned them for 5 seconds, they just laughed and he left (12 February 2024 at 3 pm). Was very obvious what they were doing (no self respect obviously). They continued the porno show about 3 meters from children. Dirty pool area (pile up of glasses, plates and napkins). Slime on the loungers in the pool. No pool side service. You can rent a no frills cabana for $ 150 day but they are daggy and offer zero sun protection.

Room - no complaints with our corner suite. Bit of a river view with building works. Bed is super comfortable with nice linens. Two waters are left per day. Nice bath products (Appelle). You must let housekeeping know you want service by setting the light on the door (never had to do that). When I asked for more towels, they were brought up quickly by a lovely polite gentleman.

Harvest breakfast buffet - in one word. Really bad (okay two words). Very average food that missed the mark on so many levels. Coffee from the machine not drinkable. Would NOT recommend.

Mei Wei Dumplings - expensive but overall good (not great but good). The prawn pad thai had THREE prawns in it. The bok choy was a salty mess and not edible. Lemon chicken the star.

Cucina Vivo - closed on Mondays much to our disappointment as we were wanting pizza.

Parking - $ 20/day and we had no problems though I can see how it would be nightmare on busy days.

How can you not offer smoothies anywhere at your resort? EPIC FAIL.

The Star has the potential to be amazing but I suspect its glory days and shine are long gone. We may return but there are other hotels we would try first.

This place is disgusting. You senses are numbed the minute you walk in with the loud thumping music at every turn. Patrons are dressed like they’ve just gone from the beach. Went to cucina vivo food was very ordinary. Music way too loud. Did not know how to read they’re clientele. Car park appalling. Why would anyone bother coming here. It’s a place that needs to be seriously looked. Fix your parking. We will never come back. The whole night was a nightmare.

The room was very unhygienic with human body hair on the bed sheets we was offered a sheet change at midnight as we was late checking in we didn’t accept this as my four year old son was extremely tired from are long drive this is absolutely disgusting and unacceptable.
After speaking with the manager the next day was offered 20% discount which wasn’t they was you should treat a customer who yhas found body hair throughout the bedsheets this hotel is very unhygienic and would not recommend

This food is just astonishingly bad. Photo attached. This is supposed to be a t bone steak. It is literally 2-3mm thick. I questioned this with staff and they said that’s the norm. Even if you tried to cook medium rare it would be 40seconds on the grill. $33 or pure rubbish

Be very aware of a security guard he/she, this security person is mentally unstable and will cause you grief. The Star is an unsafe place to go, avoid it at all cost!

I live at the Gold Coast and have visited a number of times over the years, but after visiting today (Sunday afternoon), I would say the place is heading downhill fast. The toilets were filthy, food and drink prices have risen to the point of being overpriced, restaurant service was slow, our restaurant table at the Food Quarter was wobbly, and you now have to pay for parking. The glamour of the past has faded, and the casino patrons were mainly shabbily dressed and disheveled septuagenarians and octogenarians who seemed like they slept amongst the pokies. A warning note was posted advising patrons that they should take a 15 min break for every three hours of gaming! Enforcement of a dress code seems non-existent, and so if you dress up, then expect to look out of place. If you want a decently priced meal in a clean and classy environment, then I would recommend you cross the highway to find better options. I left feeling hugely disappointed that this once iconic venue could fall so far from its former glory.

Went to see Billy Elliot. Not only were tickets expensive but theatre was so cold. Staff stated the heat would not be turned up despite numerous people telling them it was too cold. Also had to pay $20 to park at the Casino and it took ages (over and hour) to leave the car park due to long delays on exits as people had to pay at exit. Very disappointing experience and would not take my kids to a show there again. If parking was free the wait periods would be a lot less

If you play poker don’t bother with the casino poker room. I was there Saturday night and they only had 4 tables going for all level buyins. Despite the wait list and the empty table they wouldn’t open a new table. Apparently there are only 4 people on the Gold Coast who can deal poker.

We live in Gold Coast and had a rare night off and enjoyed it at the casino. I am in my 60's and I need glasses to see long distance and for driving, but caught a taxi to the casino. I went to walk through the entrance and a lady said READ THE SIGN, CANT YOU READ, I mentioned I could not see it as did not have glasses. The sign said NO ENTRY, and to take the next entrance. It was not a great start to be spoken to like that, It only needed a nice smile and explanation that the entrance was further on. I found it rude and not a good first impression, especially with what is suppose to be a 5 star establishment. All the staff / security at the front entrance, looked unhappy, even if doing security, please you can still smile or guide people to what is needed and protacol. The casino need to have nice people greeting their customers and not rude and arogant people.

If you have been to the Casinos in Sydney (Crown) or Melbourne (Crown) you will be disappointed with this one.

Food options are limited in comparison.

The casino is easy to reach by GLink Tram.
