somewhat steep!

We tackled this walk in a clockwise direction. Going this way it starts with a number of steps, some of which are a little high.
The track is not the best-maintained track in the area but mostly it is gravelled.
There's a good view over the township from the summit of the track,

Relaxed and easy bush walk with some surprises
Jun. 2020
The walk is quite easy for anyone. A bit of uphill at the start. Sound of the river and birds was awesome. Particularly like that the bush was very different from our North Island experience. We went in snowy winter, but the track was mostly free of snow due to the bush cover.

I wouldn’t bother!

Even as a flora walk it’s poor. Gradient it’s ok, not too hard but it’s not a flat walk. When you get to the top... oh yeah there’s nothing to see, just walk back down the other way. Pretty pointless unless you’re extremely bored and have nothing and I mean NOTHING to do! It was so uneventful of a walk that I don’t have even a single picture to show you.

Nice short bush walk
Nov. 2019
Nice fairly short walk (around 45 minutes) through a fairly densely forested area. The path is easy to walk and you will see many different trees and shrubs.

misleading info - easy

this is not quite an easy track. It has some steep steps and there is nothing much here to enjoy and see.

Quick and pleasant bush walk
Apr. 2019 • Couples
Very straight forward bush walk leaving from southern end of the village. Minor elevation gain. No great vistas but many of the trees have identity plaques and lovely bird calls throught out the walk.

An easy forest walk
Mar. 2019 • Couples
Whilst not to be compared with the valley walks, this was still a very enjoyable walk through forest. We saw and heard lots of birds and lush vegetation.

Not much of a walk
Mar. 2019 • Couples
This was a pretty boring walk, with no look out point. However, if you enjoy bush walking and looking out for specific plants and fauna, this might be it for you. It’s well paved with steps and can be completed in 30mins if you’re relatively fit.

Very Nice Bush Walk with Views
Mar. 2019 • Couples
This trail has some elevation gain but the trail is smooth and easy. There are interesting trees and shrubs along the way with many marking to identify them. We saw a lot of birds given all the trees. At the summit there is a nice view of the mountains. Easy to get to the trailhead from village road. The trail goes up and back down, ending maybe 30 meters from where you started.

Just enough
Mar. 2019 • Couples
After a 4 hour drive from Christchurch with the end of the day beckoning this 1 hour walk was just enough. Quite steep so tough going despite it being described on the motel leaflet as easy. But once at the to afforded great view of Mt Cook summit. Interesting too as there were lots of little plaques along the path name I gotta the trees and shrubs. Easy climb down as stepped and the road led on to a nearby bar so all good!
