Temple Basin is an amazing ski area in the middle of New Zealand's Southern Alps, in Arthurs Pass National Park. It's Club-based which means it's all about fun and good times. International press has rated it one of the best snowboarding areas in the world. It's not for the faint hearted, because there is a hike up the hill but once there the accommodation is right beside the lifts

It is a tough hike, particularly for someone who's not normally fit or used to hiking. It's also best to be attempted on a clear day without too much sun, so mid-morning hike is probably the best - the area is prone to fog. Definitely...More

This hike has great views throughout and at the top when you reach the ski area. However, the constant pebble/rocky trail wears on your feet and knees and poles would have been nice. I enjoyed the hike and views, but we've seen much better for...More

I'm an ex-skier. But after the hike up I couldn't help but think "I want to ski one more time - here". It's not for everyone. Which is fantastic and part of the attraction. 50min up and about the same back down. Some people said...More

The parking lot is small and not properly plowed. When we went on the weekend it was full and had to park on the road, got a parking ticket.

Temple Basin Track is a good 3-hour return hike that allows hikers to gain elevation quickly. Track is generally wide with mainly gravel and boulders. Incline is gradual in the beginning, and becomes steeper as you go along. Provides a good workout. We went on...More

Tough hike to the temple basin ski area, but the views are well worth the 3 hour return hike! Views of the snow capped mountains are amazing :)

The trail up to Temple Basin Ski area is actually a really nice direct route to get you up into the high mountains around Authur's Pass. Starting near the pass itself you begin at a high elevation and head directly up past the Temple Basin...More

One of the best mountains I’ve ever skied. It’s a little unconventional and epic, that why I like it. If you’re use to 5-Star resorts and a cosy gondola you’re in for a bit of a shock, remember, it’s in the middle of the Southern...More

As always, we depend on the presence of snow to open. When there's enough of the white gold on the ground, we will open. At this point our projected opening is July 1st. Check our website and Facebook for more details!
