Nice option for a walk, avoid noon-time, though and take a plenty of water. To arrive there, just follow the signs and basically go straight in direction of the castle. Heading there from Favignana, first pass next to Tonnara, and follow the path until you see the steps. You can't really climb the hill - from the bottom to the... More

The walk upto the castle is worthwhile on paved paths and you get terrific views of the town and the rest of the island and of the other islands. However you need to be careful as you go and there is lots of rubbish, doorways which are unsafe and parts of floors which are collapsing. Some rooms are full of... More

You can see the way to this fortress lit up from practically all of Favignana, and it gets your curiosity high to visit and explore the place. The way up is quite a task - I was about to give up several times. It is really challenging and steep to get to the fortress. The views from the fortress are... More

A steep Hike up 1030 Ft (314 metres) to Castello Santa Caterina, ( Castle of Saint Catherine in English) on Favignana Island takes about an hour plus depending if you find the path the first time up! Be prepared because it is a steep hike up and it gets warm in the summer with no foliage or trees to offer... More

This place reminds one of the old days of nobles living. The food was fresh and one can taste the difference in the sea food. A definite keeper.

Not a castle, but an abandoned fortress, it is worth the hike up a road and lots of stairs to get there. Be sure to explore inside, too.

The castle was more of a challenge - it's about climbing, not sightseeing; the castle itself is in ruins, such a shame! You get all the nice views over Favignana, the neighbouring Levanzo and the sea, so if you like walking, it's worth giving it a try.
