Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great walks (allow 1-2 Hours) around the end of the peninsula with stunning views of the Hauraki Gulf. Regional Council run park with camping sites available. Toilet facilities are old and need replacing but excellent if you have a self contained camper/caravan. Great safe swimming beach with plenty of parking. Check out the old wool shed for history about the place.

Given that this site is free to access, this comment must be weighed. There is a lack of information to guide him. A cell phone code to download a link is present, but the link did not work. Otherwise, the site appears to me to be well maintained and offers a variety of interesting natural environments.

We stayed three days in the self contained area opposite the beach. Great walks around the park with different fitness levels catered to. Beach and area well maintained and tidy. Great spot for picnics and activities.

The beach is absolutely gorgeous. Stayed night at the campground. No powered site, but that's part of the experience. Wildlife sanctuary so bird song (and the odd bird fight) added to the peace and tranquility. Park ranger did the rounds to make himself known and ensure we knew where the facilities were. There is a historical Urupa close, so if you're overly spiritual you might want to know this before staying. Cold water showers and clean facilities. Beautiful place

The Heritage trail is very nice and passes by a lovely waterfall. Continue on and you will meet up to the Lookout trail (worth doing) and you can walk down to the beach. There’s camping and I bet it gets crowded in summer. It was a beautiful sunny day today, May 30, and perfect for walking. Make sure you get your pic in front of the “frame”.

Grassy hills overlooking a deep blue ocean with distant views of Auckland.
Medium difficulty walks and long beaches for swimming. Stay in campsite or come with your self contained motorhome. Excellent.

This is a great place to visit when you want a reasonable walk. We were staying close by, so came here three times and walked different ways each time. There's a nice native forest bird (kiwi) sanctuary that's fenced off inside which you'll find Waterfall Gully. It's pleasant and cooling to walk under the trees to escape from the summer heat. From the bird sanctuary, you can continue to the lookout and enjoy the 360-degree views, and then choose from a few different walks, mainly over grassland, to the coast, where you'll find a great beach. On the way back, you can touch on another beach. The facilities are good here, with toilets, picnic spots, good signage, maintained paths, and lots of parking. It's a good place to visit. Note that none of the walks will take longer than a few hours, so it's a good place for a morning or evening walk in summer, when it's cool.

Beautiful nature reserve with various walking routes. The observation tower has a beautiful view of Auckland CBD. Saw several birds during the walk, including the Fantail and the eastern rosella. Long sandy beaches, small waterfall and green hills.

Great place to have a walk with stunning views, overlooking all the bays and islands. There are a few tracks, some passing sheep, some going through the forest. You can have multiple locations. There’s a great lookout point. Great for couples families and young kids or any age.

There is a camp site in the park where you can camp. This is the only place you can camp in the park.

Hi, just wondering where the best place to park is if I want to do the Heritage Trail or the Lookout track. Also are there any places to buy drinks nearby?
Thanks
Written 3 February 2020
There is parking at the end of the main road at the start of the Park or you could carry on to Shakespear Beach where there is parking and a store. Camping is also in this area. Google maps will help

What bus can I take to get to the park from Auckland CBD?
Written 17 September 2018
the best way is to catch the ferry to Gulf Harbour from downtown Quay St at pier 4.
Once at Gulf Harbour there is a bus which meets the ferry, the bus goes into Army Bay which is at the beginning of Shakespear Park. Ask the bus driver for the times for return bus trip to connect with the ferry back to Auckland. If you like I can give you a contact number for a guide to show you around Shakespear Park.
