We got up pretty early and started around 7, it was well worth the effort. The views were stunning pretty much the whole trail. It was tough work, some areas were a bit icy and sometimes loose dirt. It was pretty easy to follow due...More

Very pretty iconic for a Volcano, I would suggest taking a flight to see its beauty. If tramping be prepared for anything it is a very hard walk but the views are stunning.

Went past Mount Ngauruhoe as part of the Tongariro Crossing. Incredible site but a very tough walk unless you are reasonably fit. This is not a stroll in the park!

This scenic variant of the Tongariro Alpine crossing can be taken by any fit and motivated hiker. The path is well marked and rather crowded in the season, no additional equipment needed. Still it is much harder than the main route and should be taken...More

Great view and hiking on and around the National Park. Easy to access and some places have shuttles to help you get there and back. Stop and ask at a " I Help" kiosk for details.
