About
Cantacuzino Castle was the summer residence of Prince Gheorghe Grigore Cantacuzino, nicknamed "The Nabob" due to his impressive wealth. The building, built in 1911, bears a great architectural, historical, documentary and artistic value and spreads over a vast area of about 6 hectares. The architecture of the castle is made in neo-Romanian style, with neo-Brancovian elements. The castle park is similar to European royal parks, being laid out with paved alleys, artesian fountains, a grotto, trees, flower gardens and sculptures. It also offers the most beautiful panoramic view in the entire area! Due to its special charm, the castle has hosted, over time, several international productions (films, series, TV commercials, videos etc.). The most recent production filmed here is the mini-series "Wednesday", the exterior of the castle representing Nevermore Academy.

    Great Guide!
Cantacuzino castle, which is known Wednesday castle, was amazing! There were many stories. Sadly we couldn’t see many furniture & art pieces, but IRINA made the castle full of fantasy! She explained us in English. They normally explain in Romanian. Bur we were lucky! Her english is very nice and clear! I hope many people can meet IRINA there. Thank you IRINA

Beautiful site and great tour guide
Beautiful site with fantastic views of the surrounding mountains on a clear day. We visited the castle and its surroundings. Took a tour of the interior of the castle where the story of the place and the Cantacuzino family is explained in detail. The guide was superb, although the tour was in the Romanian language he made every effort to also attend to nonromanian speakers. We enjoyed the tour, the castle, and its surroundings.

    Worth looking !!
Absolutely lovely !!! the castle was beautiful and the grounds were gorgeous !! The cafe was lovely with great food ( cheese cake was absolutely gorgeous) and great views. A nice little shop so worth and walk round. So interesting seeing places that they used for filming the Wednesday nevermore academy, There are slight slopes but easy walking round. There are disabled parking spaces and not far from the house.

We spent a day at the Cantacuzino Castle and we loved it! The castle is newly renovated and it looks absolutelly amazing. The view from the terrace is breathtaking and the restaurant is fabulous! We did the guided tour to find more about the history and the tour guide was great, he made the story really fun and enjoyable. The castle also served as a filming location for the TV series Wednesday, therefore in its backyard you'll see a bunch of photos with scenes that were shot there! I highly recommend you to visit the estate and just have a cup of coffee on their terrace and enjoy the view!

    Worth visiting, very nice castle
Nice attraction in the area. Definitely worth a visit. The large gardens, the well maintained castle are a trip to the glorious past. You can also have a guided tour of the castle or have lunch at the Canta Cusine restaurant. Paid parking is availble.

The beautiful village of Busteni hosts a nicely located castle on the way up one of the roads on the mountains that's surrounding the city. It's a short walk of about 10 minutes from the center of the village. The entrance fee for adults is 30 LEI without seeing the art gallery, and 40 LEI all included. The tour (in Romanian) starts every hour (13.05, 14.05 etc). The castle itself is relatively small but has a rich history and there are some very nice and well preserved rooms to see, most notably the ballroom with its beautifully painted walls. The art gallery includes works by e.g. Picasso. All in all worth the visit, and dont forget to stroll around in the garden, especially in sunny weather it gives very good vibes and the sights from there are also gorgeous.

Why? Because of the history of this palace. Let's not forget the story of this castle, that inspired me.
The place sends a message, long gone. The people who lived there, the decorations, the unique tiles, the parquet with its symbolism, the railings, the special stained glass windows, all this inspires and energizes.
I was very sad to learn that this castle had been robbed by the communists of all its possessions. Unfortunately for the Egyptian tourist who was disappointed that he did not even see the carpet. When I want to see carpets I go to I..a.
And I'm really glad that I supported the development of this place with the fabulous amount of 40 lei.
And yes, tomorrow I'm going to dine at the romantic restaurant.
Leaving aside the ironies caused by the other comments, I am glad that I visited this place, emblematic for the history of this country, for the one of the greatest man of Romania, the Prince Cantacuzino.

I highly recommend. So far, my favorite castle visited in Romania, because of the design of the floor, walls, where are printed symbols which reflects the beliefs of Cantacuzino family, masonic symbols, paintings of members of the family, ancestors painted on the glasses bought from Murano at that times when the castle was built. At the second floor you will find traditional paintings, furniture with very interesting design.

Very nice tour of the castle. Our guide, Anamaria, was very professional, she answered all our questions with complete information. He has vast and interesting knowledge.

Beautiful views with the mountains spreading out in front of this castle. Quite breath-taking. It’s such a shame the communists stripped bare this beautiful place of all its interior decorations and furnishings and criminally painted over all the artwork on the walls. The rooms are now mostly bare and the polar opposite of what we experienced when we visited Peles Castle that had rooms beautifully and ornately furnished.
I’ve not seen the Netflix series “Wednesday” but there are numerous Standees about the grounds referencing the TV series, as well as a huge banner at the castle entrance, it’s a good selling point to get visitors, a shame they couldn’t have left some of the furniture from the TV series sets in the rooms to enhance the fans/visitors experience a bit and to fill the huge empty spaces.
In a couple of the rooms upstairs there was a sculpture display which was very interesting.
Is it worth a visit? If you are a fan of the TV series I guess the answer is a yes but I’ve not seen the TV show and was unfortunately left a little underwhelmed. Don’t get me wrong its beautiful and the grounds are fantastic and there’s a good view from the hunters keep which you’re allowed to walk up too.
But I cant help feeling there’s some real missed opportunities.
I’m glad we visited but if it was a toss-up between Cantacuzino Castle and Peles castle I’d recommend Peles castle every single time.

The sculptures all along the castle grounds were beautiful, as was the castle itself. I especially enjoyed visiting the tower.
The tour itself was great. The guide was knowledgeable and offered up some interesting facts about the castle.
The art gallery was a nice surprise, with pieces from Picasso, Klimt and Matisse just to name a few. It was a wonderful and fun experience on a beautiful day.

Extremely interesting for people with a passion for art and history. The Castle itself is beautiful, and the grounds are stunning. There is some good artwork, both scattered around the grounds, and inside the Castle. There is also a nice cafe with great views of the mountains.

However, the rooms are mostly unfurnished, so that you can't really visualise what they would have looked like. Also, tours are in Romanian only, which limits accessibility.

Definitely worth to visit the castle, the garden, the little church, the restaurant and the souvenir place. The view is amazing. The guide was nice. Last year when we visited the castle we visited also the temporary exhibition with Leonardo da Vinci's creations. The exhibitions change every few months.

I only gave one star because of how I was treated by the woman who prepares the hot beverages at their so called restaurant : she refused to bring the coffee and the seat cushions to my table since it was a light rain that stopped 2 minutes after I ordered. Such a shame that this beautiful place with an amazing history is ruined by lazy, rude employees! This could have been such a beautiful experience, but I was extremely disappointed.
The castle and the surroundings should not be missed and they deserve at least 4 stars, hence to the amazing view towards Bucegi mountains

The tour was absolutely horrendous. I honestly don’t know how they can get away with charging an entry fee. There is literally nothing to see and the entire tour is in Romanian. When we told them we was English he came out and give us an a4 piece of paper to read and said there was nothing else he could do. If I could give this less than 1* I would. Avoid this castle and instead go to Peles which is amazing and cannot be compared to this garbage.
