- Slap HappyBurnaby, Canada63 contributionsBest BeachThis is a very cool beach town. It might not be well known but it is a great place to visit. The water is crystal blue, the town is very, very cool to explore. I would recommend the off season time like September.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 October 2023
- Claudia PToronto, Canada56 contributionsBeautiful BeachWe went to this beach as part of a day trip from Palermo. We only spent a couple of hours here but it was nice. It was October so there were not a lot of people. The weather was warm and we walked up and down the beach with our feet in the water which was crystal clear. The scenery was different with a mountain at the end of the beach. I would definitely return but not during the summer months, perhaps late September.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 2 April 2024
- Mike12 contributionsLovely beach, nice church and friendly people.Lovely beach, very clear water. Parking was difficult and we went out of season! Parking will be a nightmare from 1st May. Anyway, we enjoyed our week there, but we had a car and went on some adventures to other places. Without the car, it would have been quite boring.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 27 April 2024
- Hannah K44 contributionsBeautiful Beach & Crystal Clear SeaThe beach can be busy, but there is room for everyone. The sand is clean, the water is clear and you can paddle quite a way out. There are sellers but you get that most places and they respond when you politely say no. Massages are €10 and are brilliant. It costs €15 for the day to hire 2 sun beds and a parasol. I have read some really hit and miss reviews on here and was surprised by how lovely the beach is and we have happily spent a few days there relaxing. There are touristy shops, cafes, and restaurants only a few minutes walk away.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 June 2024
- poppazoCorpus Christi, Texas549 contributionsBeautiful areaVisited this beach on our last day in Sicily and we enjoyed the area. The beach was nice, only thing kinda annoying was they charged for everything, chairs, change clothes and to shower all was a charge. The beach itself was beautiful, crystal clear water and incredible view.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 September 2024
- NiniBugLondon, United Kingdom299 contributionsA lovely relaxing beach vibe! This is one of my favourite places in Sicily. If you choose to rent a sun-bed and umbrella, they don’t cost a fortune. The beach is cleaned overnight. The sand is white and the water is clear. The only drawback is the lack of free shower facilities, which are found in other Blue Flag (Bandiera Blu) areas of Sicily.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 September 2024

Beautiful beach with fine sand and clean sea despite the enormous amount of people. Towards the marina there is a nice piece of free beach but the sea is dirtier. Skyrocketing prices during mid-August, next year I will try to come in July hoping for a lower turnout.

Absolutely loved this beach. It offered beautiful views, crystal clear waters and a range of food options. However, I would recommend purchasing umbrellas as it is too hot without and going down early to avoid crowds.
Compared to Mondello in Palermo, this beach is a lot nicer and quieter. But the cost of hiring umbrellas and chairs adds up to an expensive beach day.

We stayed on August 15th at this splendid beach with crystal clear sea... but we will never go back again.
As soon as we arrived on the free beach, we were 6 adults with two umbrellas and six chairs, we were stopped by men belonging to a company to offer us their equipment for a fee, which we refused.
It was eight in the morning and on the so-called free beach many paid umbrellas had already been planted and they came back to us asking us to line up with our umbrellas!!!! We lost our temper and argued heavily with those who were trying in every way to let a paid service prevail on a free beach... A shame! I had read reviews of this kind but experiencing them first hand was very different.
Rudeness and arrogance of these people who rent equipment, never seen... but they met their match.
Negative experience, not to be repeated.
There are beaches, free beaches must be left as such

The beach undoubtedly beautiful, but unfortunately a real carnaio. I was only there on the first day of my week-long stay. The sea was not even this spectacular thing as you would expect from a renowned Sicilian resort. I mean, it's great if you're a teenager and you like to be in a mess with thousands of people. Otherwise it is to be avoided. Among other things, in San Vito they understood very well how to massacre the vacationer’s wallet, starting with the parking lot: pure blue stripes on the sand and two microscopic free parking areas throughout the country. Otherwise hourly parking, paid private parking or you find a dirt road where you stick your car at your own risk ... 😡 in short, Sicily is beautiful, huge and welcoming ... I really don’t see any reason to come back here ...

Crowded beach - obviously in August what else should you expect? - not an inch where you can rest without having to pay dearly... very expensive... 25€ for a deckchair for 1 person. Impossible to park without paying a parking fee of 10 or 15€ per day of your choice... that said, uninteresting beach... uninteresting city at least during the day... basically if you want to see San Vito take a quick drive and leave or find a place at the end of the road towards the natural park and walk towards a creek... also overcrowded. Enjoy!

Great beach, with nice blue-green colored water and clean. Also great for children because it is not to deep at the start of the beach, for at least 15-20 meters the water height is at knee/waist height deep. But not of the most beautiful in my opinion, mainly because (at least in mid July) it is pretty crowded and almost whole beach from start to the end has set up paid beach umbrellas and chairs ("ombrellone e lettini"), you need to get to the beach quite early (maybe at around 8 am) to get a spot at front if you have your own umbrella (but beach staff doesn't seem to be happy with that), but as I could see there was no table with information you can't have your own umbrella. The paid one with large umbrella and two chairs costs 15 EURO, they will try to sell you for 20, but you can deal for 15, at least in our case we could. There is no price list, must be one price for locals and another for foreign tourists. English speaking is so-so, but so far we didn't had trouble making an agreement.

Best time to visit this place is late September or beginning of October. No crowds on this fine white sand beach and still warm temperature in the water. Best beach on Sicily. .

I state that the spaces for the free beach are really limited in favor of fairly expensive establishments (about 40 euros umbrella and 2 sunbeds and without the ability to bring food from outside, this Lido "Il Sabbione"). If you do not have too many pretensions of space and there is a bit of adaptability it is definitely worth a visit and even more because the sea is wonderful. Just before going down to the beach, i.e. not immediately behind it there is the possibility to park all day at 6 euros against 8 of the aforementioned beach. However not to be missed, a fabulous beach day with refreshment break in Macari located 10 minutes before, to visit the home of Saverio Lamanna of the Rai TV series "Makari" and enjoy a wonderful sunset.

Like many, I visited here because I heard so many speaking of this beach as the best ever. Well, it is not. There are bad things and good things.
The bad: the central part of the beach is packed with umbrellas and deck chairs for rent. Packed means that the umbrellas almost touch each other and extend down to the shoreline (as far as I know, the first 5 meters must be kept free by law). Loud music, loud people densely packed… it’s hell on earth.
The good: on both far sides there are free beaches. Not fully quiet: let us be clear, nothing can be quiet in late July! but liveable.
Regarding the fabled clear water: we had so far two days with southern wind, the water was very good. Especially in the second day, as the strong wind convinced most people not to show up, which was great. Now it’s the second day with northern wind, and the water is awful muddy. Maybe it’s because the tourists harbour is being dredged just now? I shall check on the other side.
All in all, is it worth coming all the way for this? Probably in mid- or late September, yes. During the peak season, I would not bother and just steer clear of San Vito.

After years of listening and reading enthusiastic words about the beauty of the beach and the sea of San Vito lo Capo, finding myself for a few days of vacation in the nearby Castellammare del Golfo, a true Sicilian gem, I convince my husband to go for a swim and enjoy a day of sun and sea that I madly love.
Hallucinating what we found: the beach of an entire coast occupied entirely, without any space that can be defined decently vital, by lidos and small spaces left free for moral commoners who do not want to be drained to spend a relaxing day. You walk under the sun to find a minimally decent space, obviously several meters from the shoreline. So you do the gymnastic to take turns bathing, because you do not feel like leaving your belongings unattended and not in sight. You enter the water, access characterized by a frightening amount of posidonia and, always due to the presence of this plant, the seabed and the color of the sea are not at all palatable. Look at the beach from the sea and a sort of anthill appears that populates the beach on all fronts.
I wonder: this beach and this sea will certainly be suggestive and breathtaking at other times of the year, but what makes people get so hurt wasting their holidays to spend them in these conditions?
Out of curiosity, I will return in the spring, I want to understand what is the true face of this much-vaunted place. To conclude, I found obscene the amount of shores, sewn to each other and within which deckchairs and umbrellas are equally sewn to each other ... mah, strangeness of the human mind

Salve, Sabato partiamo, e leggo molti commenti negativi. E' veramente così affolata, e il mare sporco?

Written 30 May 2020
