Approaching Auch the cathedral dominates the sky lone and looks very impressive on the top of the hill. Once alongside you appreciate the size of it, it's huge. The entrance opens to the market square and looks very grand. Not sure if inside really matches the grandeur of its appearance outside but is well worth having a look at.

Grandiose, beautiful, majestic, powerful, amazing.... And much more ! How can people call the middle ages a "dark age" ???!!! When you see such extraordinary art work and skills. I doubt very much that in five hundred or a thousand years our descendants (if any!) will admire our buildings, houses, factories or supermarkets ??? Our era will be called the... More

The Choir stalls in the cathedral in Auch are some of the best medieval carvings to be seen anywhere in the world, they are completely breathtaking and show aspects of european culture that are esoteric and fascinating.A truly Grand oeuvre.

This is one of the highlights of Auch. It's well worth spending the €2 to go inside the transept where the wonderful oak carvings are. A fantastically preserved cathedral, especially atmospheric at night.

Basilique Cathédrale Sainte-Marie in Auch is a Roman Catholic cathedral. The construction was started in 14 century and finally finished in 16 century. As a result of its construction extending over a very long period of time the cathedral mixes the Gothic an the Renaissance architectural styles.

The tourist info centre is very close and they can help you make the best of Auch which is a bit out of the road from the normal tourist trail. However the town is easy to get around in and the cathedral makes the trip worth it. Inside and out it is a gem. There is parking nearby on the... More

Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Renaissance Cathedral of Sainte-Marie was built on the pilgrims' Way of Saint James to Santiago de Compostela. It is right in the middle of the historic core. It has magnificent stained glass, including a rose window, carved choir stalls and an important organ. The Grand Staircase on Place Salinis, outside the Cathedral and... More

we didn' have much time, but from what we saw, this is an interesting place, with splendid glass-in-lead late medieval windows. And the entrance is free, we'll be back when we have more time to really admire the impressive interior
