White island is an extraordinary landscape where you can get up close and personal with an active volcano. Unfortunately for us the weather turned to rain as we arrived which made the landing difficult. The trip continued with driving rain and most of us turning...More

Thank you for taking the time to review Whakaari / White Island. I note you that whilst you did comment that the island is an extraordinary landscape you only gave the Island an average rating. If this was primarily because of the weather you encountered...More

Must admit we went by helicopter using Frontiers with our own private pilot which took 30 minutes from base and avoided all the horror stories of folks who took the boat on rough days (most days!). The whole trip took about two hours from start...More

What a fantastic experience - visiting a live volcano! The boat was excellent - very comfortable. But the star was the island itself with amazing sulphur fumaroles. Very informative guide filled in the history of the sulphur works. Well worth the visit.

Incredible place to visit! Long journey to it on a boat but Dolphins can be seen! The island is ok and interesting but the smell is way too much! Even though masks are giving, it was not enough, at least for me! At the same...More

Hi Marcelles - it's hard to predict the conditions in advance and it really depends on the swell. When we went in December there was a large swell running thanks to storms north of New Zealand the week before. That made our... More
