Description:

Release the child within and experience New Zealand's quirkiest theme park....

Release the child within and experience New Zealand's quirkiest theme park. Voted by AA Tourism as a must-do Kiwi experience The Waterworks is a theme park with a difference. Set in 5 acres of native Coromandel Bush and just 10 minutes from Coromandel Town is an array of water powered inventions, quirky contraptions and fun to discover at every turn. Inspired by the ability to create something new out of something old our attractions are made largely from recycled materials and are powered by water. Water is used to keep time on the wooden water clock; watch out though it often works on Coromandel time. We've got water cannons to blast away on and bikes that pump H2O. Our human sized hamster wheel is an absolute hoot and our mad inventions leave people wondering "what the".As well as the 70+ attractions to look at, play on, or interact with, The Waterworks has a generous adventure playground area perfect for picnics, an onsite café, free use of BBQs and a natural swimming hole to cool off in during the hot summer months.

Families, couples, old or young - it is a great few hours or even a day if you want. Very interesting water features and activities as you amble through the park. Take the time to read some of the hilarious posts around the park. Well worth it. Great playground for young and old with flying foxes, and a large range... More

I imagine if you have a bunch of young kids with you this could provide a couple of hours of fun for them. However for adults on their own not really worth the $25 entry fee. This is basically a smallish 'garden' which has been turned into a kind of local home made water park with some ingenious contraptions &... More

My 7 yr old and I both really enjoyed this park. It was worth the windy non paved drive from Whitianga. The playground and fun water toys are really fun. They have a swimming hole and BBQ pits which we didn't take advantage of. If I was local this would be the place to hold a kids bday party. Fun... More

A really interesting and fun place to visit. We laughed so much at the different water activities managing to catch each other out with a spray of water. The sign boards are full of interesting facts as you walk round. Age is no barrier here!! Had the best toasted sandwiches at the Cafe and the coffee was great too.

We visited the beautiful amazing Coromandel peninsula on a trip from the UK and found the Waterworks park when there. It's well sign posted just before the town of Coromandel. The trip to The Waterworks on the 309 road is quirky and interesting to say the least. The lovely little piggies on the road at the Pig place are lovely... More

What a fabulous place to visit, we left with big beaming smiles on our faces. For two people in their 50's we felt like kids again. The activities are great and walking round you can feel the sense of humour and joy from Jeff the owner. We particularly like the mouse wheel and the rubber duck race. Cafe serves delicious... More

We all loved this place and spent quite a few hours there. Loved the inventiveness and quirkiness of it, including the interesting notice boards and signs. Great playground suitable for teens (and adults☺). Well worth a visit.

We love this place! This visit was with our teenage grandchildren and the warm summer weather made getting wet enjoyable. We really enjoyed the jokes and interesting facts spread around the site, but most of all, we appreciate that tis attraction is powered only by water or solar power. The explanations about how the various water-powered attractions work are something... More

Someone has a great imagination, huge amounts of fun, but for me only a summer time visit. There is a fairly good chance that you are going to get wet. Will be back with gullible friends soon.

We loved this place and by the look of everyone else so did they. Waterworks is a mix of recycling, amusement park and science with the kids loving the activities and the parents appreciating how they work. Its all very much hands on and interactive in that you have to operate the exhibits to make them work and some give... More
