Not at all child friendly, owners were rude to my wife and suggested she return another day without our 2 children. This was within 2 mins of entering and children were well behaved. Would not recommend this place. Drive up the road for 5 mins and explore the native bush for free, that's all this place is.

Inverawe is a 9.5 ha garden landscaped in the grand tradition but using Australian native plants. It is not a bush block - we have planted over 12,000 natives, drawn from all over Southern Australia, supplemented by natural regrowth. We have laid out kilometres of pathways and constructed hundreds of metres of pleached stone walls. Our aim is to encourage... More

Spectacular views over the bay, a wonderful array of native plants, well kept paths and plenty of seats to sit and admire the views. The information panels are very informative, lovely poems and small garden statues spread throughout. Owners very friendly and happy to chat.

Lovely setting looking over the water. The hosts are helpful. Even in autumn, plenty in flower. Nice to see a garden with swathes of plants you can immerse yourself in.

A pleasant stroll through a variety of native Tasmanian plants. Not well publicised but very good for both keen gardeners and birdwatchers and it is easily found as it's next to Margate Train. Parking is on the road and then you get a brief orientation talk from the owners before you can wander at will. Plenty of seating to sit... More

We spent about 2 hours at Inverawe this morning. What an enchanting place! Margaret and Bill are devoted to keeping threatened floral species growing, and over many years have placed them in a serene, wonderful environment among all the other plants that exist there. Margaret introduces visitors to the Gardens, and her overview and advice made it easy for us... More

My friend and I went here in search of birds. Well there are never any guarantees with that! However you can be guaranteed of a delightful few hours minimum of strolling through these magnificent gardens. Made all the more special as the owners explain and provide any information or answers to your flora and fauna questions. Well worth a visit.... More

Inverawe is not just an amazing native garden, but also contains interesting snippets of history and botanical information. As well, it has quirky features dotted throughout the large garden area. You can sit and enjoy the garden, water views and bird life or wander the paths and discover the huge range of native plants and trees. Grevilleas were in flower... More

I visited Inverawe with a friend recently, and it was to be part of a full on itinerary, so I planned for less than an hour there but we spent a whole blissful morning wandering around the well made paths and loving the many and varied plants, trees and birdlife. First we were greeted by the owners and "introduced" to... More

Thanks very much for your kind words. We've had a bit a rain through winter and into spring and the garden has never looked better. More

We visited back in April for our honey moon and was expecting to see natives but got charged full price just to see weeds , it was unfortunate we could get half price admin as there wasn't much to see

Charmaine - if you had spoken to me at the time I'm sure we could have resolved this. We meet all visitors to introduce the garden and are happy to debrief at the end of their visit. I suspect the "weeds" were in fact native plants. In 15 years we've removed 22 acres of weeds, including Hawthorn, Blackberry, Boneseed, Briar,... More
