Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A lot of history and meaning behind every corner of this church. Lovely volunteers there will tell you all about it in multiple languages... easily accessible by transport from Amsterdam central station by bus, 15mins, and behind the church beautiful old town to sightsee too...

As you enter the beautiful village of Monnickendam from the bus station you will see this huge old church and cannot be missed.Sadly, it was not open to the public the day we visited Monnickendam.

Azamara cruises arranged for a free shore excursion for all 600 passengers on the Azamara Journey during our overnight in Amsterdam. We were brought to the Grote Kerk to hear an organ (also soprano and trumpet) recital, played on a world-class, huge church organ, by a master musician. Aside from the glorious music, I must say the church itself is a "buried treasure," being off the beaten track. Worth a side-trip if you're looking for something to do outside, but within reach, of Amsterdam.

Right at the entrance of the Monnickendam village , the tourist can easily find this gothic church and visit the interiors . There are some leaflets providing info. about the historical background of the church and have a look at the left side of the building where one can see the crooked wall !

Just got out of the bus from A'Dam, I was welcome by the big gothic church and glad to find it open. Wooden stalls, colourful organ, a couple of boat models, an uninteresting small paintings exhibition, a huge space.
Very handy: spotless toilets on the left hand side of the entrance.

Unexpectedly interesting big church. Brief history provided makes for an easy visit. On site volunteers in case you have questions. "Convenience" available for a coin!

Perfectly lovely old church with original interior finishes. A VERY crooked building on the side. Worth a look.
Across the road is a memorial to three British bombers and crews which crashed during the War. Wellington and Lancaster
