    Interesting Blue Mountain coffee tour
Very nice interesting tour about the coffee plantation on blue mountain coffee growing and production. Our guide Gerome was very knowledgeable and kind. We got a very good hike with amazing views and explanation about the coffee plants. Later we were taught on how to distinguish zBlue Mountain coffee from the others and the best way to drink it. The only difficulty was that the trail is steep and has some very rough spots. I would have like to know more about fair trade and labor treatment of this coffee

Great trip worth the hideous road!
We hired a car and made our own way there. The road was somewhat scary as it winds up the mountain with numerous hairpin bends and some of the road subject to debris from land slips. The welcome was warm and we had just pitched up and were invited to a tour $20USD per person - well worth it. I learnt a lot about coffee and its history both globally and in Jamaica from our guide and enjoyed the walk up the hill. BE WARNED it is steep but you learn about the coffee plant and the Rainforest Alliance which was interesting. Overall a lovely visit and the staff were great with a tasting of the coffee itself and some rum cake and the opportunity to buy some e beans we had a great time

Only go if you are a comfortable driver or with a guide!
This was great - our tour guide was AMAZING. Very informative regarding coffee plantations and the whole manufacturing process. There was a short hike (perhaps 20-30 minutes uphill) to a lookout spot and then back down. If you are fit enough I would recommend visiting. However be warned; the road is EXTREMELY windy so only go with a proper big car if you are a comfortable driver (otherwise organise a tour guide to take you).

Gorgeous estate with 100% Blue Mountain Coffee
This was my final stop on my Kingston and Blue Mountain tour with Caribbean World that I booked with Althea at RIU Ocho Rios. You had to go up some steep steps to get to it. I’m out of shape so after the presentation I didn’t go up for the rest of the grounds. I stayed on the front lawn. The presentation on the history of coffee and what makes Jamaican blue mountain coffee unique was excellent. We sampled the coffee with small pieces of cake. Afterwards, we were able to go upstairs to purchase coffee. I paid in US dollars. I’m sure they took pounds as well because the majority of the group was from the UK. During the presentation, I did confirm with the presenter that Anthony Bourdain had filmed at this location for his episode in Jamaica. He also dined there and a part of that was in the footage. It’s sad that Bourdain is no longer with us, but I recognized the estate from that episode. The drive up is a little scary, but it was well worth it. The coffee prices they charge you are a discount compared to when you get back to the tourist areas. I ended up going to the General Foods Market in Ocho Rios to get more 100% Jamaican Blue coffee as gifts. I’m not a coffee drinker, but if you go to this estate, have your money ready. Bring a shopping bag that you can keep folded in your purse, you will want to buy what you can because their prices are very reasonable. 90% of their product goes back to Japan. I didn’t see their brand in the market.

After a helter skelter journey up the mountains we arrived at Craighton house coffee plantation.

You walk by a swimming pool and go between two buildings, one of the had a couple of workers in. But what they were doing wasn't explained.

You climb up a lot of uneven steps, the first stop the guide spoke about two different types of coffee bean trees and the only the arabica trees are grown in Jamaica.

The next short stop further up the hill you saw loads of coffee trees. Then it was back down to the house to taste some coffee and a piece of rum cake.

I give the plantation tour a 5, but the ride up to the plantation is not for anyone who experiences motion sickness, as the road is extremely windy, bumpy and the Jamaicans are very good drivers, but drive very fast! The plantation is beautiful, you can opt to take a walk up to the highest point. The brewer was vastly knowledgeable re: the entire coffee process and we were able to taste his coffee, which was delicious!! So we purchased 5#, not inexpensive, but this was not the same as we sampled. The beans have a whiteish appearance, lack flavor, even when used w/ a French press. I am hoping the other pounds we purchased will be better, but 2 out of 5 so far is less then optimal. I did email the brewer, but have not heard a response

As we arrived, we went on a tour of the grounds with George. He showed us on the grounds, plants and land. When we came back, Junior spent a barrage of time educating us on the quality of coffee, region, elements of coffee, signs of quality & history of the Craighton Estates. Not only was it fascinating and well worth the time to visit, we left the Blue mountains more enlightened. Thank you!

Not a massive coffee fan but the hubby is. So this was more for him than me.
Well amazing place although I didn’t make it up to the top (bad knees) I didn’t want to leave in fact I wanted to buy it and stay forever. Absolutely beautiful home and steeped in history and the views are to die for.
I will say I did try the coffee and actually bought some back with me for my sister and for us and it’s delicious. Even showed us a new way to drink it. It sis a bit of a journey walking wise so if you’ve bad knees as I have it may not be the trip for you. If your able to manage it just to the house it’s more than worth it just for the view and history.. The staff do an amazing job and so informative
Well done to you all highly recommend going.
Ps if you ever decide to sell!!!! Definitely putting in an offer 😉

Visited the Creighton Estate as part of our hotels 'Town & Country' tour - being totally honest, having been to many plantations whilst in the Carribean in the past, would not normally have chosen this as a destination. However, what a great experience!

The Great House is set in the Blue Mountain region, and the views of the house, grounds and surrounding areas are nothing short of spectacular.

Although there is no set tour of the house, you do get the opportunity to see many of the areas en-route to the presentation room. Our guide was Jerome, who's knowledge and passion, for everything coffee related, could no be bought into question. His initial presentation was concluded by a coffee tasting, complemented by some gorgeous Jamaican Rum Cake.

A tour of the impressive plantation area concludes the experience.

The following comment is based on my observations on the day, so apologies if this is not actually the case (your hotel / tour guide may be able to advise you better)......................

Unfortunately, due to its location (steep incline, multiple steps, uneven ground up to plantation area etc) I would not consider this tour suitable for wheelchair users or those with a mobility issue.

An enjoyable and informative tour, with a talk and tasting followed by a short walk up into the plantation itself. A little longer in the house might have been good but it was busy and there were clearly other tours coming in behind us. Worth the visit.

Great drive up through the mountains, and the grouds around the house are stunning. The house is also worth a good look round, and the talk about coffee is very interesting. However, if you have any mobility issues, you will really struggle. We had to sit in the garden while everyone else went up to the plantation but they didn't tell us that when we booked.

This is a pretty cool experience for coffee aficionados. We walked there from our hotel and were greeted by Junior who gave us our tour. The house is interesting and historic. Junior was a wealth of knowledge and gave a great tour of the coffee crops. If you are into coffee and want to up your game this is worth your while. Recommended.
