Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Church of San Carlo Borromeo is one of the baroque churches you will meet on the course. This work too, it seems, by Gagliardi, was built in the eighteenth century with the reconstruction of the city after the earthquake. It gives onto the main street with a beautiful three-tiered facade with a marked concavity. We could not visit the interior because when we were there a funeral was underway.

This baroque church was also built after the earthquake in 1693. It has a beautiful and harmonious concave facade.
Due to the lack of time, we just stepped in to see the interior and to take a picture of it, we could not climb upstairs to the terrace...

There are so many Churches in Notto, the Golden city.
This one is one of the more beautiful churches, especially inside.
You should also climb the Campanile to its top which adds to the experience (it is not expensive, just be careful with the narrow stairs).
It is quite easy to get to this Church as you'll certainly walk Notto's main avenue, Corso Vittorio Emanuele III.
It is located just 100 meters from the Cathedral, the main landmark in Notto and 20 meters form Caffe Sicila, the best and most famous eatery in Notto (don't even think not stopping there, it would be a massive Fomo).
So don't miss it and after climbing to the Campanile, have a cold drink or a Granita at Caffe Sicilia.

We paid the 2 euros per person to walk up the narrow staircase to the bell tower and were not disappointed! The views from both viewing platforms (one mid way up the staircase and the other up the top by the bells) were beautiful. You could see and appreciate the Noto baroque architecture. We only had to wait a couple of minutes to let other visitors come down to avoid crowding on the staircase or at the top. We would highly recommend if you're visiting Noto.

Lovely and wonderfully preserved little Baroque church, where it is possible to visit the terrace of the bell tower. For €2 climb the 80 steps of the stone spiral staircase to reach the terrace, which offers great views down Corso Vittorio Emanuele and across Noto. From up on the terrace it highlights how grand San Nicola Cathedral is, with all the steps leading up to it.

Chiesa di San Carlo Borromeo is also known as Chiesa San Carlo al Corso. It was the church of the Jesuits whose monastery still adjoins the church. San Carlo Borromeo was built in 1730, to replace a previous church destroyed in the 1693 earthquake of the town. It is thought maybe Rosario Gagliardi was the architect, others think it may have been his pupil Vincenzo Sinatra. Both men along with a handful of other architects, were instrumental in rebuilding Noto after the 1693 earthquake which devastated the town.

My wife and I visited the Chiesa di San Carlo Borromeo in Noto during a two-week vacation in Sicily. It is located on the main Corso Vittorio Emanuale on which most of the churches in Noto are situated.
Entry is free but there is an option to visit the tower for a fee of Euro 2 pp which we did not opt for having climbed enough steps for one day!
The interior is classic Baroque but not as elaborate as the nearby Basilica Santissimo Salvatore.
Worth popping in to if you are visiting Noto.

There is so much to see in Noto - and each church and each building offers something special. We did not spend much time in this church, and nor did we take advantage of the bell tower (we had gone to the top of the Church of Santa Chiara earlier in the day, but it is probably the same experience - don't miss at least one of them to really get the best view of Noto), but the architecture is impressive and the ceiling paintings likewise worth viewing.

As with most of the Baroque churches in Val di Noto, San Carlo is a bit understated inside, but still with many interesting details. The killer feature here is access to the tower, for amazing views over the central Noto.

The pale yellow and white interior is a nice change from some of the very ornate Baroque churches we saw in other parts of Sicily.
