Small but stunning
Sep. 2019
This is a small chaple unimposing from the outside. It's all about the frescos on the walls of such age and colour depicting many topics including the patron saint of Dentistry. Dont miss it.

Like stepping back in time
May 2019 • Solo
This church is absolutely charming. It’s like stepping back in time! During a 16 day tour of Puglia, we saw a LOT of churches, and I must admit, I was fed up of seeing them in the end, but this is one church I’m so glad I saw - it’s not to be missed. It’s not big at all. In fact, it’s very small. It’s quaint. It’s a little gem. It still has a very medieval feel to it. The paintings on the wall are quite something. It’s very special. I’d come back here again.

Otranto’s oldest Church
May 2019 • Couples
We didn’t manage to find this open on our last visit so a must this time. I can only say that it is wonderful with frescos full of colour and detail.

REally nice church....can't miss the mosaics on the floor
Nov. 2018 • Couples
I've been to Otranto many times but this the first time actually going inside the Duomo. The floor is covered in mosaics and there are also frescos on the walls. The mosaics depict some bible scenes or scenes of mythology..perhaps Perseus or Hercules.

This is a real gem tucked away in a corner. The frescoes are superb, and it is a real privilege to be able to see them. Be sure to leave a donation to help preserve this fantastic monument.

Small old church, packs powerful artistic punch!
Oct. 2017 • Family
If you are in Otranto, visit this free-to-enter church. I love art, if you do too, his little building from the 9th century will move you. There are frescoes from the 9th century of Jesus washing the disciples feet and the Last Supper. Above the central alter arch there are large kufic calligraphy / Arab paintings. In addition to the Byzantine and Arab flair there is the western ideas of Christ throughout. All in this one little church! There is a statue of St. Peter from 1635!! Go here and marvel at the Greek cross plan of the church with three naves and three apses.

I have been to Otranto a few times and somehow had missed out on this tiny gem. The frescoes are stunning. Small and quite beautiful. Don't miss it.

mix of culture
Sep. 2017
It is not just a small and excellent example of a byzantine church, more a book to read.It is the first basilica of Otranto, dated 968. The remaining fresco's is a story apart. There are not only gGeek inscriptions, but I discovered also Arabian text. It shows that different cultures met each other peacefully.
The guide gave an. superb explanation of all the details of the fresco's and about the church.

Beautiful small church with great Fresco's
Jul. 2017 • Family
During our visit of Otranto, we also visited this little church. Not that easy to find as it is a relative small church, in them midst of houses etc. Luckily the church was open for visit and although the exterior is quite sober, the interior is full of beautiful Fresco's. Really great to so and to understand the age of the Fresco's. Worth a visit when you are over in this nice place.
