This is a 25 min ride from Takasaki train station Bus No. 8 from the west exit (200 Yen per person each way). I posted a picture of the information (includes outbound and return bus times) that I received from the tourist information which is right across from the exit from the station. So I had planned to see 3... More

Nice view with an impressive Buddha statue you can climb 136 stairs to enjoy a nice view of the area. Must be even more beautiful in Autumn.

I found Takasaki in general a bit hard to get around since there weren’t many buses, but luckily the drivers are nice and will show you when to get off. Finding your way to the statue is easy because it stands out. There was a spider on the vending machine at the temple, so I had to be careful not... More

This is one of the sights to see in Takasaki town, especially so if you are a believer of KwanIm or the Heart Sutra. The surrounding has a lot of beautiful greenery, so during the right autumn months it would be in full colours. You need to drive up here or be prepare with good walking boots to get here.... More

It has been raining for a few days but it did not stop us from coming here. We took a bus from Takasaki bus station and the bus ride takes 25 minutes. The temple was really peaceful and not crowded during week days. The statue is around 8 floor up and you can walk up with a small fee. It... More

I had no idea you could actually walk up to the top of the Kannon statue! There are interesting things to see on your way up!

This is a great place I've visited many times. In fact I proposed to my wife on the rope bridge just South of the Kannon Statue. There is a small walking course that is easy and fun for all ages. There are some cats lounging around the area sometimes, an owl you can take your picture with, I assume for... More

Walked from the center of town and it was a long (8 km) walk in hot sun, but very worthwhile. There is a park like area when you get there before ascending steps up to the statue. If you buy tickets along the way they are only $5 to go inside the statue. Cement steps inside the statue and no... More
