Great for kids who love history and climbing ruins
Jul. 2021 • Family
Went with children aged 5, 7, and 11. They could have stayed all day -- between the various rooms and staircases and lookouts and "finding the secret passageway". It was a few minutes walk from the parking lot to the sites -- there is a wheelchair accessible ramp to much of it but our children preferred the stairs. And also, the views were stunning.

Amazing fortress showcasing a millennium of local history
Feb. 2021 • Couples
Crusader architecture intermingles with Ottoman flourishes while Palmach bunkers dot the courtyard. This amazingly preserved castle is a living testament to the turbulent history of the region. Plan a few hours to climb the towers and truly explore the place. And if you're really in the know - bring yourself some snacks from the Yehiam sausage factory and have a romantic picnic overlooking the forested valley below

History and nice views
Oct. 2020
Was with two of my grandchildren. The fortress ruins are from the Crusader's in 12th century and Daher El-Omar the Ottman ruler of the Galilee A in the mid-18th century. Also you can view the Jewish independent war posts (1948). We watched the short movie as background.and later went around to enjoy the nice view points. Climbing up the watch tower requires some effort. After the visit I suggest to stop at the local store of Yehiam Delicatessen and pick some meat and Turkey snacksas well as local Beer.

One of the most fascinating fortresses in ISRAEL
Feb. 2020
Nimrods Fortress or Yehi’am Fortress commands your attention as you approach it from miles away. It sits atop a mountain in all its glory. The ruins are well documented through the ages and the various construction styles of the conquerors are clearly demarcated. It takes about 4 hours to see the entire complex. However it is not for people who have problems walking or climbing. It is definitely not for wheelchairs. But that is a pity as the fortress is absolutely fascinating and well worth a visit.

Interesting historic site with pretty views
Dec. 2019
Yehiam fortress has a colorful history spanning at least 800 years. There was a short movie which gave us some background, and also signs in various places. And really pretty views. A good deal of climbing, not great for those who can't climb.

Fortress

Old crusaders fortress in good conditions and with many places to go and climb. There is camping place near the fortress, so beautiful sunset can be observed from walls.

Very Large
Apr. 2019 • Couples
This old crusaders fortress is very large and is rather well preserved. There are stairs to get you to all points on the fortress including the keep. Great views all around. We had friends who took us here and gave us some history of it prior to it becomng a national park.

Majestic! Great views of the Western Galilee!
Oct. 2017 • Couples
The Yechiam Fortress is a majestic, medieval fortress perched on top of one of the mountain peaks in the Western Galilee mountain range. There is still enough intact of these ruins that without question it is one of the largest and the most awesome-looking of ancient fortresses in Israel. From the upper levels of the fortress one has a commanding view of the entire Western Galilee. No wonder that every invading army wanted it for themselves. Because the fortress is a national park, there is a nominal admission fee (14 shekels/$4), but is well worth the price. We meandered through the ruins, through still intact rooms, halls and massive walls, admiring the size and beauty of the fortress itself and the magnificent views. Make every effort to get here to see the fortress and the views!

Great with (young) kids
Jan. 2017 • Family
This is a must see if you have children under 12. They can run, climb and try to fit in some places adults will not fit in ;-) it's a great site with history and for kids is so big and mysterious, they love it. There are stairs everywhere, lookouts, hide places, etc. I wouldn't recommand it to an adult couple.
