Great Spot

Room with a view!

Cute little church with an amazing location. It was locked up when we visited, but great to look around the outside.

It's about the 10th time I've visited over the years, but the first time in 12 years.

It was blissfully quiet without international tourists, which made it even better. I dread the day that the floodgates open and it gets overwhelmed again.

Had heard so much about this place, but it was lovely to see it when it wasnt so crowded. The view from here to Mt Cook is truly breathtaking.

A must visit if in Tekapo as the church is very picturesque (especially in the snow) . It can get a little crowded with people wanting to get that special shot

Adorable wee church!
May 2021
A lovely wee church in a stunning location!!!

Couldn't get enough of it! Took so many photos in various lights, different times of the day, etc..... you could say we were a little obsessed with it! (in a good way!) :) (having said that didn't upload any as there are probably LOADS of great pics on the TA reviews already!) :)

We made sure we visited it (a few times!) when it was quieter! We could see it from our hotel and saw how busy it got, so avoided those times! (even in Covid times, couldn't believe how busy it was!)

Beautiful spot! Well worth a visit! Although disappointing you can't enter the church now (apart from if you attend a service) it is probably best in order to preserve such an iconic sight!

Disappointing
Jun. 2021
This iconic church with the most scenic setting of any church in NZ has been fenced off - but still possible to take a close up photo without getting the fence in the way - and closed up unless you can get a group of 5 or more to pay $10 a head to enter it. What a travesty from the vision that the pioneer families had of a welcoming place to experience God's love. As a descendent of those with this vision I found it disappointing not to be able to enter and see the family plaque on one of the pews. But unfortunately it is in keeping with overcharging for various attractions in this money focused tourist trap that Tekapo has become and with charging for public amenities such as toilets and the road to Mt John. As a child of the MacKenzie Country I felt a stranger in my old home town.

A beautiful little church in an amazing setting. A must see when in the area. Even better with snow in the back ground. Always a good photo opportunity

Loved spending time here…..

A popular photo shot and with the background of snowy mountains, blue skies and Lake Tekapo - it doesn’t get much better. Rest your hands on the brick structure and you will feel the warmth of goodwill. Enjoy……

Tourist spot to see this little church perched on the outskirts of Lake Tekapo. Also pretty chilly, pack a jacket. Great little walks around the place.

This little church is in a fantastic spot - We crossed a bridge over the river which is a lovely way to approach the church and the lake i in it's full glory from this spot Other than the weather being biting cold especially as it was only April it was a lovely spot to stop and enjoy.
