Had a very quick trip to Dawson Falls in September. We opted to do the quick trail to the falls which were beautiful. This is a relatively easy track but has steep steps if you want to get up close to the water. You can...More

Many walks start from here so it is good to park up and get information. Self-contained vehicles can also stay overnight. There were some interesting displays in the centre itself.

Several trails either leave from or very near the Visitors center. Very interesting Visitors Center in that they have deconstructed the original climbers cabin from up the Mountain and completely reassembled it here, inside the Visitors center when they built a new one on the...More

Dawson Falls has numerous easy family walks. Wilkies pool walk was great with kids. Really beautiful bush reaching a river over a wobbly bridge and then back again!

The Dawson Falls Centre is a fantastic place. Walking and tramping tracks branch out in all directions from the Centre, offering easy access to the Dawson Falls itself, as well as to the river (really a melting glacier) running down the mountain. You'll get superb...More

With a breathtaking back drop of Mount Taranaki the information centre provided the background knowledge to my visit to this stunningly beautiful place. I have wanted to visit this area and see this perfectly shaped volcano for many years, yesterday I managed it. A perfectly...More

We bought the $1.50 track brochure there and got very helpful advice which routes to take for our half-day hike. Centre also has lots of info and nice visuals about the area plus recent weather forecasts. Definitely visit before hiking up.
