This is a free museum, and you get what you pay for. Disclaimer: it’s all in Spanish. I think this place would benefit from an audio guide, especially for foreigners who don’t know the names/music the exhibit is referring to. It’s a nice collection of...More

We visited this place while on the Loja Free Walks. There is a coffee shop and also live music sometimes. The museum needed more time to go through so we plan to return.

Housed in what was once, I believe, a school founded by one of Loja's early benefactors, the nicely restored Museum pays homage to Loja's considerable musical past. Collected are instruments, sheet music, awards, certificates and photos of distinguished musical Lojanians (?) past. Also of interest...More

A city, the cradle of art, literature and music ... has outstanding musicians and songwriters ... it is interesting to listen to the gastronomy of music according to the Charter of Music ...

It not only highlights the musical genres but when I was there they had the most amazing exhibition of masks! The courtyard just begs for a photo op

We enjoyed looking at memoribilia and short histories of local musicians and composers. Loja is proud of her creative folks who have made it such an artistic center.

As mentioned by others, everything in this museum is in Spanish, so that should be considered prior to a visit. It has two main rooms chronicling the history of local musicians from 1870 - 1920s. I enjoyed the sense of pride conveyed by Lojanos for...More

We enjoyed this museum and its cafe. The musical history was quite fascinating and unexpected. The museum is very nicely situated and easily accessible on foot in the town center. It would have been even better if there were English translations attached to the information.

The museum is a history stockpile of the music giants who played it composed music in Loja. The history is fascinating and the buildings are well maintained. Very interesting museum.

If you cannot speak or read spanish, you will not get anything out of visiting, other than photos and some instruments, as all is in spanish. Not speaking spanish didn't get much out of this visit.
