Calama is really not a very touristy town, and certainly warrants just an overnight stay in transition to other bigger (or smaller), better places.

Coming from Bolivia's mountain deserts and traditional places, it is as if you return to 'civilization'. Lots of goods to get, though at a high price. Did most of my shopping at the nearby reasonably priced Jumbo supermarket. Still the mall is nice to splurge...More
It's air conditioned, clean and has a surprising variety of shops and a Hoyts cinema. There's not much else to add, except that the prices in a lot of the shops seem quite high, depending on what your after, alcohol however is cheap ;)
Taking into account that Calama is in the middle of the dessert (with an obvious Las Vegas touch) this is an OK mall. Plenty of stores, air-conditioning and a decent food court. Nothing special but should suffice your urgent shopping needs in Calama.
