Our Madeira trip had three highlights: the Levada walk, the wicker toboggan sled ride in Funchal and these natural pools in Porto Muniz. We're from California, which also has a beautiful coast, but we have never seen or experienced anything like this before. My teenage son loved it, too. Well worth the trip to the other side of the island... More

We had a lovely afternoon at the Porto Moniz Natural Swimming Pools. There is a minimal entry fee (1.5 Euro for adults and 1 Euro for kids). They only take cash, but there is a bank machine located at the top of the stairs and to the right (from the ticket window). The water was cold, but that was to... More

Nice place for rest. Temperature of water in April is 18 degree, but many people including children swim in the pools. We were surprised. Open ours are from 10 a.m.till 5 p.m for 1,5 euro per adult and 0,5 euro for local people. After 5 p.m. entering is free. For Aqua Natura Hotel's guests there are free tickets.

We needed this relaxation so much after 16kms hike. The temperature was a tad bit cold but it was refreshing after you get used to the temperature of the water. Our achy body was so relaxed after soaking into the sea water.

This was a real find. We went for a day and the kids loved swimming in the safe environment offered by this facility including fish and crabs! We knew that no food was served so we got some supplies at the local supermarket and had a small picnic. Really nice.

Loved the natural swimming pools in a breathtaking views. The water is clean, clear n serene and not too cold for this time of the year. You can actually take a dip and enjoy few strokes. The place is simply stunning. I wish we were there for longer time. Highly recommended to visit and plan to spend full day!

It costs €1.50 for adults and lockers were €1, which you don't get back. It's brilliant at high tide as you get the best waves. It's slightly cooler in April, but you should take the plunge, it's OK when you get in. The showers were cold though, so don't expect a warm shower to warm up. The views are lovely... More

We visited the pools on a glorious day in March. The pools looked great and, had it been a little warmer, I'd have been in. One brave German man did take a dip and encouraged his daughter in. The calm clear water was attractive and the fish in the pools reminded you they are refreshed with each tide. Nearby is... More

Very beautiful natural volcanic pools next to the Atlantic Ocean. The area around is beautiful arranged and organized for a relaxed couple of hours. The water is cold for an average swimmer (16 degrees Celsius March 2017) but we were many in there taking a refresh swim. If you are not for the swim then there are other options in... More

We stopped here on a tour of the of the island. Although it was not warm enough to go swimming (we were there in March) I could not get over the beauty of this natural set of pools.I checked the prices for entry and found it was only 1 euro to enter, that seemed like a bargain. Madeira is such... More
