The place is very old but very well maintained. Great walls of stone, great buildings and an ancient church to see. Also because is in the mountain, there is a great view of the valley. If you have some luck you can see a wedding!...More

Unexpected and beautiful. Accessible with wheelchairs. At the entrance a guardian would allow the passage to cars for disable visitors. Beautiful the church Greek Catholic and the chapel on the right with frescos. A small book explaining the history and the frescos can be bought...More

We came here in the evening and it was very nice by night - lit up beautifully. We got some great architectural pictures. Everything, however, was closed so we only saw the outside.

This is one Abbey that is more like a castle! It has high walls, a very Gigantic yet Artistic Bell Tower, and beautiful frescoes all over the church interior!

A nice place to see especially during the mass : they are a special catholic group, as they have byzantine rituals and sung choirs. The internal create the atmosphere, although there are not so many places available to sit: best is morning mass.

This beautiful church is a must see if you are in Frascati or Grottaferrata. Walk through the old town walls and there it is. To be honest to sit in the courtyard outside is very relaxing and peaceful.

If you let yourself, you can go back in time here and sense the way of living 1000 years ago. This is a place of where you cannot hurry.

My husband and I will be taking a private car tour to the Grottaferrata and the Abbey; Nemi (town and lake) and Castelgandolfo this October. First question: How/where do you buy tickets to see the Abbey? Also, is there any other interesting sights to see in that general area?? Thanks!

Buonasera, per vedere l'Abbazia di san Nilo NON si paga. Tutta la zona è da vedere soprattutto per il paesaggio.
