I must be lucky as I visited the church not 3 minutes from my Pension and it was open. This is an absolutely gorgeous place inside. The decoration and detail is wonderful to see and I would highly recommend a visit. Even the old/ancient prayer books are on display and really should be protected from the public. Even if you... It was less than a five minute walk from where we were staying so it was easy to access. It was pretty nice, but the actual castle's entrance was closed so there was not much to see.

My second holiday on the island, and second visit of Pythagoreo and even the castle. Must see, specially when the Tunnel of Eupalinos is still (2014-2016..) closed and there is no note about it on the web :(

When in Pythagoria a lovely stroll up the back streets will take you there. Beautiful old architecture, a fabulous cemetery at the back overlooking the Mediterranean.

We visited outside areas of the castle during the hottest time of the day, of course. But it was worth seeing, nice details. Also the white cemetery with all flowers that family & friends had taken there, the ruins & the spectacular view to the sea & airport was worth seeing (Y)

Lykourgos Logothetis was the leader during the revolution 1821-24 against the Turks. The castle on a hill in the periphery of Pythagorion.was his headquarter. You can still see a big part of the castle. Next to the castle is a very beautiful church and cemetery. There is a fantastic view over the sea from the castle.

This is an easy place to visit and well worthwhile. The castle is completely fitted out inside with lovely chestnut wooden stairs, excellent displays and great views from its windows. The Church is typically Greek and very nice. The adjoining burial ground is well kept and attractive. The site is fairly close to the harbour.

The ruïns of an old castle overlooking the bay at Pythagorion. Close to a big parking place, easy walk from the town centre. The museum is closed on Mondays, it looks lovely and gives you a good feel of the place. No entrance fee which is a big plus, you would expect it to be crowded but it is not.... More
