The Monteverde Orchid Garden is a place where you can enjoy beauty that is found in the marvelous world of orchids. Our garden has a large collection of orchids; we have more than 425 different species. You can find species that are endemic to Monteverde, and a collection of miniature orchids, including the smallest one in the world. We offer guided walks both in English and Spanish. We are in a great location in down town Santa Elena.

Beautiful orchid garden, lots of variety. The guided tour in English was the young Andres, who amazed me by his knowledge. Not only he knows so much about orchids from Costa Rica, but also worldwide. He told us many orchid stories and quirky information. The garden is beautiful, and after the tour you can stay as long as you want... More

What a nice surprise! My guide 'Grey' was excellent and I learned a lot during my tour. The garden is compact, but lush. I got to wander freely after the tour and would see something new every time I mistakenly went down the same path again. I wasn't sure what to do with myself in Monteverde, so I figured this... We went to the Orchid garden and had a very informative tour with Gre. I believe the cost was $10 or $12 US. It is incredibly impressive the amount of work that has gone into their collection of Orchids. They have utilized their space very well and have a large variety of many orchids. My husband and I did the... More

After traveling around the world and visiting over a dozen orchid gardens, this garden definitely has the most diverse variety. I realize that there are thousands of species and the garden looks small but they have some of the largest orchids to the second to smallest orchid (2 mm in diameter). Your admission comes with a guide and he was... More

Without a knowledgeable and passionate guide you wouldn't notice even a tiny fraction of the orchids growing here. Definitely take the guided tour. The guide introduced us to a fascinating world of mostly tiny plants and taught us how to spot them. Some of the less showy species are even more beautiful than the cultivated versions and the huge variety... More

The garden has a wonderful collection of orchids and the guides are very knowledgeable. The orchids are generally attached to trees and many are so small they offer you a magifying glass to enable a good look. There is a small glass house but this display is more natural than the majority of orchid displays you get in various places.

This is a beautiful garden. A tour guide explained the different types of flowers and the pollination process. It was a good experience.

We really enjoyed learning so much about orchids and seeing all the varieties. A guided tour is a must as you won't know what you are looking at in some cases, because some of them are so tiny. Take a trip through this lovely garden.

My wife and I stopped at the Orchid Garden because we had some time before dinner in the Santa Elena town area. We learned so much from our tour and our guide was super knowledgeable!
