Karuna greeted us with a warm smile and infectious laugh. We went straight off to the markets to get the fresh produce in a Tuk Tuk and quickly arrived back at home to do the cooking. Five curries were on the menu plus dessert and there was enough food for the whole street. Amazing experience with my wife and to... More

We loved this experience - seeing the markets, spice shops and fish stalls with someone who could explain what things are and how they're used - cooking seven different dishes (including the best pol rotti I tasted in Sri Lanka) with someone who took the time to talk us through why you'd add one thing but not another - and... As soon as we arrived to Unawatuna this cooking class was the first thing we booked after reading about it in Lonely planet and here on trip advisor. Luckily there was space for us in between to fully booked days. We showed up happy and exited as we both enjoy cooking. We were the only two people that day and... More

If you love to eat the Sri Lankan curries following this cooking course is a must. First you buy the ingredients at the Dutch Market in Galle. Don't forget to bring your camera because there are lots of photo opportunities! Then we bought some spices, if you want to buy some spices I would recommend that you do this at... More

What a fantastic experience. A great day out at the market shopping for the ingredients in tuk-tuks. Karuna is great fun and we cooked 7 different Sri Lankan curries then sat down and ate them. I would recommend this to everyone.

The food she made was great and was an easy introduction to Sri Lankan cooking. I do feel a few basics were missing from a cooking class mainly that she did not give out typed recipes. We were noting the ingredients as she cooked and missed out on a few steps while writing the recipes as there was so much... More

First we got on a tucktuck tour to the market to buy the ingredients for our dinner. We got to choose some of the vegetables, we like to eat. Unfortunately it was not very informative and unpersonally. In spite of that the rest of the evening was pretty entertaining and we learned a lot of new recipes. Beware of the... More

This cooking course was one of the highlights of our trip to Sri Lanka. Not only was it great to learn how to make Sri Lankan food, it was just tremendous fun. The skill of cooking traditional food was made so simple and is something we will now use regularly in the UK. The trip to Galle to buy the... More
