Fantastic location , I went on 4 walks with Vinod from Bird songs Homestay, an excellent guide and fantastic birding. You have to pay for trips in to the sanctuary 175 rupees and 500 rupees for the 2 different locations. Highly recommended for nature lovers and birders I didn't venture into the zoo which was very limited.

We were fortunate to stay at the Jungle Bird Homestay during our two full day visit to Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary. The variety of birds to be found is truly amazing. The trails are well maintained and for the most part can be managed by all with little difficulty (except to keep hydrated). Especially appreciated were the large posters with... More

With school kids coming on selfie trips with a baggage of loud noise its almost difficult to spot anything. Early morning are the best timings. We asked for a guide but charges were 1000/- buck which to our estimate was quite high with no guarantee of viewing anything. We went without a guide and though listened to a variety of... More

We saw 98 species in our 2 day trip here. There is a variety of habitats. It is worthwhile going with a good guide like Gireesh from Junglebird Homestay.

Wow. Just Wow. We saw between 40-50 birds here with amazing colours. Take binoculars. It was spectacular. We saw drongos, bee eaters, open bill storks, kingfishers, jungle babblers, shrike, bulbuls, flycatchers, etc etc. The sanctuary is well worth diverting for a visit. It's really near to the Hornbill tented camp which we stayed at. The highlight of our trip.

'Outstanding' is probably nowhere near good enough to describe this amazing place. You can tell as soon as you arrive that there is something special about the place! The most hearty welcome, the beaming smiles, the clean and tidy appearance of the buildings and staff, all this in the midst off a beautifully natural setting. We stayed for 3 nights... More

The sanctuary by itself is very nice, and has 100's of birds. The reason why I choose to mark this 3 stars instead of 5, is because of the unruly groups that come in a create so much of noise. Large families come in and scream through the trail, scaring all the birds away. The place has so much potential,... More

We were not aware of 2 things, best time to visit, and how to visit. We were too much dependent on the google maps, this led us to a wrong route. Please ask the locals on how to reach there. Best way is to go to Ribandar, then take a jetty to the other side, Jetty ride is free. Entry... More
