Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The lake is surrounded with wetlands and isles. They are mainly pine trees, green in summer but autumn turns golden orange foliage, very romantic. While rafting at the water forest, it is an enjoyable sight.

you can take a ride by car around the lake and stop by at the various point. Any of them, depending on the sunlight direction, will be good for shooting very nice pictures of magnificent scenery. A place not to miss when in Changshu

It´s really nice place but.... too expensive. The second big MINUS is: This is a natural scene, but no dogs allowed to enter :( They provide dog boxes on the entry. But this room is first very dirty and second are the boxes not really convidient. Was one time there....was also the last time!

visit yesterday, this place is well planned by local authorities, entrance fee is little high i think, 60 RMB, well connected by 2 bus routes 116,117 from city, our taxi onward cost 35 rmb, and return bust 1 RMB, yes just one RMB. Natural lake converted by several division, bridges, walkways and boating, cycle hire, amusements park, inflate boat hire and jet ski also available.
Very few birds we can see. not 102 the sign says.
We really enjoy our visit spend 3.5 hours.

I visited Shang Lake for a couple of hours on March 26th…I mention the date only because we were about 1 week too early to see all of the flowers in full bloom. There are some signs in English, but was happy to have a Chinese host to interpret for us. It is a very large park with mostly paved paths. There are many flower beds along with older style buildings and bridges around the lake. This is a great place to take pictures. We saw a man that had trained a group of Great Cormorants to fish out on the lake…very cool. I saw quite a few birds to add to my list while we walked around. Right outside the park is a little place called Landior Café Lakeside. It is a great little place to get a bite to eat. They have fresh made juice from about anything you can think of. Our group tried mango, watermelon, and orange juice…all great. We had wonton soup and it was wonderful.

I cycled here from the crowne plaza hotel one sunday and was glad to find the cafe, on the south side of the bridge across the lake. I would take a taxi.
There is a park(admission fee) and small commercial area nearby , but like most of changshu they have built it and are hoping people will come for tourism. So far not many people have turned up so its not jumping. However on a sunny and clear day (you don't get many) then its a good place for a bit of chilling.
The larger lake to the south of changshu has a fun fair on its island , but again its been built and not many people have turned up yet

My friend Sammy and I spent the day by Shang lake. We hired a bicycle made for two and visited the banks where the boats belonging to a local school are moored. Some of the surrounding tourists sites have fallen into disrepair, but the lake itself is lovely. We couldn't find a cafe or anything like that. There are reasonably clean toilets, but nothing much more than that. We were pestered a bit for photos.
