Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were warmly welcomed by our host and she proceeded to give us a wonderful informative tasting and tour. A beautiful spot, with amazing views. Ideal as a special venue too. Highly recommend.

This winery was an absolute find. We were staying at Mt Pisa and stopped off on the way home. The duty manager introduced herself as soon as we walked in which was a first. The view was stunning; the tasting room was absolutely exquisite and the tasting glasses were very special. The whole experience was fabulous and we'd recommend the wines and wineries as a must.

I started this tour not liking pinot noir overly much but this visit changed my mind. Of course, being greeted by a leaping dog (Maisie) always bodes well. The sommelier was wonderful, the wines incredible, and the architecture and design choices were inspirational (got some great ideas for our villa renovation). Thank you!

We hosted a private luncheon as an 80th birthday celebration on Saturday 06 June 2021. Our 14 guests, 6 of whom were from the North Island, were blown away by the experience. They loved the ambience of Domaine Thomson. The food was delicious , abundant and beautifully presented. The wine buffs were in "heaven" and the non wine drinkers well catered for. Thank you Ashlyn and Hillary for attending to their needs and for dealing with the unexpected cake and extra champagne for taasts. We couldn't fault the experience and honestly didn't wish to change a thing. Word of mouth is the best publicity and we will be spreading positive words.. Thank you eveyone at Domaine Thomson and especially Ashlyn and Hillary for making this special day memorable.
Even if you haven't booked a private lunch the tasting rooms are worth visiting for the views, the art work and of course the beautiful wine. The girls tell a great story and one you will remember. Allow two and a half hours for a prebooked private lunch or up t o an hour for the wine tasting.

We arrived and received a warm welcome by Ashlyn who was an outstanding host. Ashlyn invited us to take part in a tasting she had just started for another couple who work in the wine industry. What I loved was the relaxed and unhurried story of Domaine wines presented In an engaging and knowledgeable manner. I was able to fully savour the wine and had time to consider different aspects of it’s origins from vine to bottle. An absolute gem, and not many experiences offer the same delightful surprise making this one hard to beat.

Amazing venue, incredibly knowledgeable and lovely staff, outstanding views and great wines.
Would love if I could sit up there with a plater and a glass of wine, hopefully that is in their not too distant plan!

The cellar door is stunning and has an amazing view. The staff conducted a friendly and dedicated tasting. Worth noting, you can also taste a Pinot Noir from Burgundy which totally enhances the experience as you can compare a new world Pinot Noir versus one from the old world. Totally recommended.

. We visited as a party of 6 on Sunday late afternoon (thinking we would be too late for a tasting) and we were greeted and looked after by the lovely Ashlyn. What an asset to your team Kate! Ashlyn was warm, welcoming, knowledgeable, engaging and just the perfect amount of info - she is such a natural and we really enjoyed her hospitality - probably the best tasting we have had in Central Otago. We look forward to our next shipment of bubbles & Rose xx

Took visiting friends to the cellar door today and had a fabulous time. Beautiful French and Local Central Otago wines and amazing views over the Cromwell basin. My favourites were the Rows 1 to 37 Pinot noir and the Gevrey Chambertin 2016 Pinot noir but the rose’ and Chardonnay were also delicious. Our lovely cellar door host Ashlyn was a breath of fresh air......very knowledgeable and friendly.
Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the region.
