You really couldn't fault the staff or the experience when it comes to the fossicking and gem store. The staff were so helpful despite being run off their feet.
The bags of wash were fine and we found lots of little stones - nothing to rave about but it's more for the experience isn't it!
The Cafe was a big let-down. We got a coffee and a stale donut out of the little display case. I would think that at a tourist attraction you would benefit from having fresh, homemade snacks available.

Loved the mine tour and so much fun panning for Sapphires.
Lunch menu sounded awesome and felt like a steak sandwich asked if it came with chips, no they are sparete. I asked for takeaway as I had my dog in the van waiting for me. When I checked it out it was full 9f BBQ sauce, which I wasn't asked, do I prefer BBQ or tomatoe, smoothered in cooked onions which where quite nice actually, but no salad not even lettuce and tomatoe so disappointing, I saw a guy eating a hamburger and it had salad and egg, menu didnt say hamburger woth the lot, just hamburger.
The menu need alot of work so people know what they are buying and paying
Omg very disappointing.
WISH I have ordered the hamburger.

Very interesting and informative for the whole family. It was a fun experience going down a mine and learning about what it was like to mine for gemstones back in the day.

Extremely well run and affordable tour- established since the 1980s. Excellent tour guide walked us down into the mine (48 easy stairs and slope) , 15 m underground. Very interesting commentary. Followed by optional activity sieving for your own sapphires- we got quite a few (not good enough quality to cut) but great fun! They have a jewellery shop and cafe too.

An excellent 45 minute small group tour of an underground mine that has been modified to accommodate tourists. Our guide was a knowledgeable, intelligent and interesting speaker. A fabulous way for the novice to learn a little about the history and processes of sapphire fossicking.

This is a guided tour of a former working mine with some accommodation madexfor tour groups. Is is a little dusty and not for claustrophobic. Some of the spaces are a little narrow. There were some micro-bats in residence when we went through so another thing to be aware of if you do not like little flying things.

A very educational tour with plenty of walking on uneven dirt and some stairs to climb.

Thoroughly enjoyed it.

We would have had to wait for two hours for the next mine tour and that was a bit long for us so we thought we would do some fossicking. This was lots of fun and we came away with a small bag of gems, nothing that will make our fortune but we really enjoyed ourselves.
