Wonder
Sep. 2020
They say it is the cleanest river in Portugal...unlukly only by boat you can see the magnificient houses with wonderfull gardens that go in steps to reach the river. If you stay at Hotel Porto Antigo you can ask for a boat trip.
Going by car you can reach an other interesting walking parts
above the dam.
Its all green! A Paradise!"

Time stood still

We did a trail (p1) which was extreem good. The signs were clear, the surrounding so beautifull. The view magic, even you see the Douro river. It was an easy but not too easy walk in the lovely valley and above the river Bestanca. I suggest to take lunch and eat it halfway at the picknickstop at the bridge with your feet in the water. If you walk carefully in the river you maybe will find some swimming spots. We just stayed at the bridge.

Beautiful valley
Apr. 2018 • Friends
This is a lovely valley with a number of possible walks. It is quite diverse offering a range of different environments. Walking is within the ability of most people who are accustomed to country strolls

Cleanest water in Europe!

Most amazing river. Every spot is crystal clear and magnificent. Fantastic on a hot day. Flows along most of the walking routes, Pr2 as well as Pr1. Otherwise drive to the junction as said in previous reviews !

Best place for thrill lovers and people who love nature in their life.
Stunning scenery and lots of places where you can keep away from hoards of people if you wish.
We've done 2 hiking routes, but there's lots more to try. Loved the PR4, it's absolutely perfect.
We'll be back.

amazing swimming holes on the Rio Bestanca
Jul. 2016 • Family
The N222 is one of the most beautiful highways with several places to stop along the way. Just west (ca. 5K) of Cinfaes is the small town of Pias... there are amazing hiking trips for all levels, but DO NOT miss out on the amazing swimming holes near the junction with CM1022... what a place for lunch (which for us ended up being many hours of mid-summer lazing)... cool waters, deeper and more shallow pools, cliffs of various heights to jump off of, tanning rocks... what a place... also a lesson in the local culture, as smaller groups of nearby residents (no tourists to be found) - families and teens - use the place as beach substitute and they are very open... we met some really neat people...

Greta trekking pass along the river
Apr. 2016 • Family
There's a very nice trekking pass starting from the Vila de Muros cemetery, very well indicated, easy to make with kids from 7/8 years old. Really to recommend, takes 3 hours.
