    Pretty Parikia
Parikia is nestled on a small hill overlooking the port of Paros. We loved strolling the labyrinth like narrow, cobbled and painted alleyways. This is not just a tacky tourist area, as locals still live here, go about their business and close their shops for a few hours mid day. The whitewashed houses are draped in beautiful bougainvillea, and cats abound. The views at the top are gorgeous but the cafe with the view was closed when we were here in late April. The Frankish Castle is not open but what remains is very interesting. Old churches, shops, narrow steep stairs, great views and overall beauty entices one to come back again and again.

    Nice typical Greek town
This town is located at the main port in Paros. It is your typical Greek island town. These is a bus service located on the Main Street of the town which you can buy tickets and travel to other parts of the island like Nausa. There are lots of restaurants on the Main Street and you will also find quaint taverns within the town on the side streets. As part for the course there are also lots of small shops to see. You will find everything from clothing, shoe and jewelry stores and more. You can take a 10 minute ferry to Antiparos which is a must.

The Port where boats arrive, best sunset
Parikia is the capital of Paros. We arrived at this port with our seajet. We came back to visit, and we did not regret the decision. The bus ride from Naoussa is less than two euros, better than taking a yellow taxi or transfer since they charge you over forty euros. Sorry, but most taxi drivers on the islands are greedy and rude; they charge exorbitant prices to tourists and don't negotiate much. We were happy to take the bus and visit this lovely town. Pirikia is where we saw the best sunset after Mykonos town. The city has quaint streets with cobble-stoned streets with good restaurants and bars. I highly recommend a visit.

Had a great time exploring the town of paros! Highly recommend going into the hills for a walk to see the sunset :D I visited there from my sailing boat and stopped in parokia marina who were super help and relatively cheap compared to other ports.

Parikia is the capital of Paros and the island’s main port. If you arrive by ferry, this is where you will first set foot on land. The first thing we saw as we left the port was an old, preserved windmill in the middle of the road. This place has character.
I loved Parikia - it has as much, maybe more, to offer as the very popular Nouassa. It also feels less crowded and not as commercialised.
It has a charming old town, lots of restaurants and an attractive port, with colourful fishing boats and a long promenade that stretches right around to Livadia Beach.
Even if you have a very tight itinerary, it’s worth spending some time wandering through the town’s maze of narrow lanes, past whitewashed houses, blue-domed churches, small boutiques and brilliant pink bougainvillea.
One of the town’s ‘must-see’ spots is the intriguingly named, Church of 100 Doors (or Panagia Ekatontapyliani), a wonderful 4th century church complex which is all domes, doors, windows and arches.
The other main sights are the Frankish Castle and the remains of the 6th century Temple Of Athena at the top of the old town. What’s left of the temple is incorporated into the pretty Church of Constantine but it’s the panoramic views from here which is the most impressive part.
Overall, Parikia was a great choice to base ourselves for 4 nights in Paros.
NOTE: You can look up a lot more reviews on Parikia under the Tripadvisor entries, ‘Port of Paros’ and ‘Paroikía Páros’. If you are planning a trip, it’s worth checking out these entries too.

Location/what is it about: Parikia is the port and current capital of Paros in Greece. Lefkes in the mountainous interior of the island is the old capital.

Parikia is a picturesque harbour town with narrow streets, whitewashed houses and paving stones, a windmill, ferry port (useful for island hopping), many restaurants, bars, shops that are open late. It's a romantic place. Perfect for honeymooners. There are some beautiful beaches that can be reached on foot or via water taxis. Parikia is also one of the best places on Paros Island to admire the sunset. There is a taxi stand in Parikia near the port. During the evening, the street at the port is made car-free. Ideal for walking and cycling.

Admission fee (budget range): Free to visit.

Due to the presence of the ferry port (convenient for island hopping), several restaurants and bars, picturesque streets, great sunset, we think Parikia is a must-visit in Paros, Greece. We will visit Parikia again.
