For British readers, the best way to describe this is as a huge farm park, rather than a "zoo". The place is absolutely massive. We came across here by accident, as Sleeping Beauty's Castle is next door. The penguins, baby wild boar and rabbits were...More

Take your walking shoes as the park - especially if you walk out to the wolves - is pretty big. You can even take your dog in (most unusual to us UK visitors!). Great smaller animals - with real close up encounters - penguins, meerkats...More

Really enjoyed spending time here. Requires a lot of walking to get around the whole park. Lovely large enclosures and areas for the children to interact with some animals. Good view of sababurg castle. Lovely restaurant on site. Would highly recommend.

I thought it was fairly pricey for what you get. It's not English-friendly so know the names of your animals. There is a train for people to view the park. I thought it was weird that they have an enclosure you can climb in and...More

The animals walk along with you as you explore this very historic, very special place. To call it a zoo is too limiting; in the States this entire park would be called an animal encounter. Wolves, reindeer, lynx, goats that smell like chèvre, sheep, storks...More

This is a nice local tierpark, which offers a worthwhile daytime stroll. We would have loved to have seen more animals local to the area. Still it is a pleasant time spent walking, and the views of the castle is spectacular as it used to...More

The Sababurg castle is also known as the Sleeping Beauty Castle. The grounds around the castle has an animal park and trails to explore the hills and forest. Very pleasant place to spend a day or afternoon.

This nature reserve is one of the oldest in Europe, but not doubt they have work hard to keep it up to date and it is one of the best thing to do if you are in this area. We were there early in the...More
