One admires everything in this barocque church which belongs to top places to be visited in the south of Bavaria even if it is on a side road

Very impressive church that is certainly worth a detour to visit. It's free to enter, though the EUR2 parking fee serves as a de facto entry fee.

It's off the beaten path, but so worth the trip. It's a very pleasant Bavarian countryside drive to get there and the church is gorgeous. The outside doesn't rival the great cathedrals of Europe, but the variety and quality of craftsmanship and artistry inside is...More

It's just crazy how elaborately beautiful this church is, particularly since it is basically in the middle of nowhere. Possibly the most beautiful church I have ever seen. Very interesting history too. Definitely worth a short visit if you are in the area!

I took my US roommates there 25 years ago and my children last year (ages 10 and 12). It is an amazing experience. The interior is absolutely breathtaking.

This church has been well preserved. While the exterior reflects a plain church. The intererior is a beuaty to behold. On the day we visited it was surrounded by snow. This made the visit even more magical.

Built as a pilgrimage church in the mid-1700's, the Wies Church is off the main highway, tucked into beautiful fields with a peaceful lack of commercialized tourism. While most older churches are dark, this church's light interior shows off the Rococo architecture, frescoes and statuary...More

Like a few others, I too had rented a car for the sole purpose of being able to take side trips like this during our planned stops (In this case our drive from Fussen to Salzburg). With that said, I do believe that there is... More
