The average review reflects our day at Maungakawa Scenic Reserve. On a sunny day, or with a guide I'm sure I would have rated it higher. Try and get Brian (one of the guides there), he's very knowledgeable and amusing. We saw half a dozen...More

Short drive from Cambridge, pretty scenery and great views if you go right up as far as the communications tower. On a clear day you can see Ruapehu and Mt Taranaki. Nice picnic areas and a lovely bush walk.

We took one of the tours, run by an extremely knowledgeable volunteer who was able to tell us lots about the different plants and birds that we saw. With an interest in birdwatching and conversation, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
