I love a good Farmers Market and this one is excellent. Very friendly atmosphere, lots of yummy local produce which I was able to buy for once, not having to worry about airline restrictions. We visited Talbot during the week when it was a typical quiet small country town and the transformation on the Sunday was amazing - where else would you see street closure signs?

I had heard great things about the Talbot market and I have been meaning to come here for years and finally went last Sunday. It didn't disappoint, we loved it! Easy to get around, a good variety of stalls with quality produce. We went fairly early so parking wasn't an issue for us.

We visited the Talbot market last Sunday.
What a great day. we just wish we had left home earlier to enjoy the amazing amount of stalls etc. We ran out of time, but managed to have a great look at the various stalls, food stops and enjoy the animal nursery Truly well worth the trip to Talbot, I promise.

The Streets are blocked off and what appears to be most of the town is turned into one enormous market. Ended up will a vehicle full of vegies, plants , 2 Chooks, 1 Budgie and a jar of Peanut Butter !! On the Calender for a return visit.

Visit Talbot during the week and well....it is a ghost town with little commercial or residential activity and minimal ambience. Visit on the third Sunday of any month and the town centre is transformed. Stall holders purvey second hand wares, provender, crafts and produce. Streets are busy with hundreds of visitors and locals. Local buskers belt out old fashioned 'rock n roll' or 'country and western' classics. Patsy Kline meets John Denver. It's the Talbot Market and it keeps on improving. Recent streetscape works in the township, road resurfacing, and renovations on historic properties are lifting the tenor and ambience of the Sunday market experience. Pity they cannot spread this activation across other weekends or days of the week. The secret is to time your visit and experience one of Victoria's premier market experiences. And well, if you go outside the third Sunday of the month have a poke around Talbot and then move onto nearby Clunes for a glass of Beckworth wine, bakery or sweet shop experience.

I've lived in Ballarat for 2 years now and this was the first time we have made the 30 minute drive out to the Talbot Farmers Market. Wish we had done this so much sooner, it's a huge market, with lots of fresh local produce, lots of stalls with unique pieces and gifts, great food and coffee, home made cakes, plant stalls, the variety is amazing, great atmosphere, can bring your dog (must be on a lead) best get there early for the fresh produce. It's on the 3rd Sunday of the month from 9am-1pm

I had travelled through Talbot a few times on the way to visit a friend in Maryborough and finally it coincided with a weekend of the market. So we went along to have a look. For a small town it was a big market with lots of stalls. The gourmet foods were excellent and great variety. Nice to see it so well supported. Will definitely be visiting again in future.
