Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A interesting place to visit when your in the area, Old railway stations are places that have a lovely old world charm and some history, they remind us of when rail travel was the main type of travel transport we had , in many ways it was a romantic time long gone but not forgotten.
The station was well built , these brick buildings have stood the test of time, I doubt the new station of today will fare as well .
The man who runs this place now has given it a new lease of life in a very igly piggly way, He carry’s on a picture framing business here and has all sorts of old books for sale as well as different Garden plants, plenty of old railway memorabilia here to look at , every thing is for sale. It is like wandering through a maze , you never know what you are going to find.
You can buy a coffee or cool drink here, the Gentleman owner is good for a chat, stop in and enjoy the place, you may find a treasure.

Talbot is a quaint historical gold mining town located between Clunes and Maryborough. The original railway station opened in 1875 and closed in 1993. The station was rebuilt nearby in 2013 for V/Line Maryborough services. The old station now houses a free railway museum which has interesting signs, pictures etc from the past as well as plants, various bric a brac, books and picture frames for sale. Well worth a visit and browse!

Built in 1875, the Talbot Railway Station was created to link the towns of Talbot and nearby Amherst with Ballarat and Maryborough. The station building was of a similar style of many country train stations during the era. Now called the ‘Creswick Style’ it beautifully showcases the fashion of the day – single storied brick stations with plenty of cast iron detail and multi-coloured brickwork.

A stationmaster’s residence was incorporated into the building, along with a booking office, ladies waiting room, internal toilet and fireplace. In the 1930s the residence was converted into offices and the station closed in 1994, although the track continues to be utilised – for goods trains between Mildura and Geelong via Ballarat.

Today, the historic building is a rail museum and includes staff instruments, bell code system and railway memorabilia. I would use the word 'museum' loosely in conjunction with this location. There is no doubt it is fascinating in a messy, backyard sort of way... but you are not going to find things labelled neatly. It's more like sticking your hand in a barrel looking for a lucky prize.

You can buy plants here ... there are historic books... interesting paintings and memorabilia ...but there is nothing organised about this place. Still... it's interesting to visit. The gent running it has incredible railway knowledge...so if you have an interest... drop in and meet him.

It is a beautiful old station building and the picture-framer who rents it also offers many things for sale: plants, railway memorabilia, travel books, art books, tools, and is happy to chat over a coffee or cold drink.

This property is set up as scroungers paradise. You can spend a great amount of time looking through the pieces and plants. In addition I found it very interesting to see the old fixtures within the station itself. The owner also does picture framing.
In all this the station platform is in use to board and alight from trains on the Ballarat to Maryborough line.
