A very beautiful place to visit! This island is very secluded; and is very easy to get to it via Metro from Eminönü Station followed by an almost one hour of Ferry Boat trip from Kadıköy Metro Station!
There is no need to pay any tourist agency lots of money to take you there; you can go there on your own and spend the whole day strolling in the island! The cost for the round-trip fare is less than 20 TL ($6)!
It is gorgeous; and make sure to include it in your itinerary!

We had a wonderful and special experience to rent a horse drawn. The ride was ok, little small but good.

Second in size after Büyükada, but probably a little more charming. Although the houses have a somewhat similar style, Heybeliada seems a little cozier. Less tourist masses, therefore slightly less horse carriages, even more museums in numbers (2), as it seems. Over all worth a visit, take your time and stroll about. And if possible, avoid the poor horses… it's romantic even without riding the carts.

Spring is the best season. I walked in the woods past the old Greek Orthodox cemetery, circled the entire island. Beautiful old wooden houses, great views from the streets at the top of the island. Visited the Wednesday market which is still quiet in April. The island is extremely busy in the summer. My favorite of all the Princes Islands.

We visited the island in July,on a tuesday. We first visited Kınalıada,smallest of the Princess Islands,then took the boat to Heybeliada. We had a long walk starting from the Marine School of Military,which has been closed like the other military schools since the 15th July 2016 operation.Up the hill seeing the small park and small statue for Yesari Asım Arsoy and remembering his poet and song for the island,we headed towards İsmet İnönü' s house. He was the second president of Turkey,after Atatürk. Unfortunately the house was under repair and closed. On our way,we saw beautiful authentic houses,some lost in pretty flowers and trees. It was very hot. Therefore deciding to come back in autumn,we walked back to seashore where there are several restaurants . After having some grilled fish we sat at Mado's to cool with the best icecream you can find in Turkey. Next time we shall be visiting the religious school on top of the hill. This school is subject to political arguments between Turkey and Greece.

You can walk along the pine trees forest and end up with swimming at Aqua Beach. Walking may take 2 hours at most, depending on the route you take. Aqua Beach is in the bay of south of the island. Clean and cozy place to eat and sunbath rest of the day. You can return to the island center using their boats (included in the beach fee). if you like to see the cliffy shores from the sea it is an option. Carriage with horses is disturbing as in Büyükada but not as frequent as in the latter.

A nice experience to try this in Buyukada island it show you all the island cause it went around it just one problem is the bad smile of horses .

Terrific day trip to escape the crowds of Istanbul and enjoy a walk around in a car free township.
Lots to like about the colourful housing, horse carriages, shops and touristic attractions.
Can understand how city folk go here on weekends, so peaceful.
We visited on a wickedly cold day and there was not a lot open but certainly enjoyed the walking and cake shop right in central area near ferry terminal.

What seemed to be a fantastic idea ended up in a very very touristic horse carriage running as quickly over the island as possible with really nothing nice to see, only decay... and lost glory! This is really one tour you should avoid, it cost you a full day to visit with boat from Istanbul and back and not worth any cent! Horrible and boring!

Istanbul, a metropol, if you wanna escape from the traffic, noise of the city, take a ferry or katamaran go to the princes islands, Büyükada, Heybeliada, Burgazada, Kınalıada, just some thirty minutes or an hour away.
Amongs the others Heybeliada is my favorite one. Actually living there in summer times since long time.
as soon as get off the ferries a friendly , quiet, cheerful cafes, restaurants meets you with a smell of the pinewoods . You feel the warm winds coming over the sea and seagulls sings a welcome hello hello to you .
you may enjoy by walking thru the woods, riding on a bicycle, or take a horse car tour around the island.
you may pay visits to Hagia Triada ( ruhban okulu ve manastırı ) , the Holy Trinity, whose site on Ümit Tepesi is occupied by the Greek Orthodox theological school of the same name, some other churches, monasteries and chappel, like " terki dünya" , some beaches " çam limanı, is most popular one, have a picnic in Değirmenburnu watching the sea and sunset over the water sports club.
And some houses, actually museums, of İsmet İnönü , first prime minister and second president of the republic of Türkiye, kept as is, with some furnitures, paintings and memories, and Hüseyin Rahmi Gürpınar, the renowned journalist, essayist and novelist. This is now a museum containing many interesting mementos of the writer’s life, as well as period furniture, pictures and other objects.
