Parked in town and walked up the hill. A cool walk although at times, cause we haven’t hit the gym in months, a bit challenging to our lungs. Treated ourselves to drinks at the lovely cafe next to the castle. We actually didn’t go in...More

Great weekend activity with children. My husband and I went with our 4 year old and she had a blast. We walked around the castle ruins for about 30 minutes then we ate at the restaurant and walked around another 15 minutes after eating. Plan...More

You have the choice to drive and park at the top or walk up the dirt trails. Take care if there has been recent rain as it will be muddy and could be quite slick on some steep spots. The castle isn't that great. It...More

The cafe at the castle is open from 10AM to 2000 most days. and serves ok food and beer and wine. Nice place to take those visiting Landstuhl and see the inside of the castle ruins for a brief idea of just how old the...More

Very interesting ruins that are connected to the extensive walking trails that criss-cross this part of Germany. Beautiful views of the village below and the local area alone make it worth the visit. Here is my only real gripe: there are almost zero interpretive or...More

Checked out the castle and restaurant on a cold December day. The Restaurant was a perfect spot to warm up and look out the large window at the area that surrounds the castle. The castle itself was closed that day, but walking around the grounds...More

This was the first castle I visited when first moving to the area. It is beautiful, the ruins are still in decent shape. And the restaurant was perfect after poking around the castle for a bit. Servers are friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely worth the trip.

We visited Burg Nanstein with my two toddlers and elderly parents. The kids loved it and my parents enjoyed seeing genuine German castle ruins. Recommend bringing outdoor clothes (jacket is chilly) because the grounds are outdoors or under minimal cover with plenty of stairs. I...More
