I liked the trip here. Must drink butter milk here (best I ever had),also good fruits specially Citrus, are available here. Hire a guide, w/o a guide you wont understand a thing. go early mornings.

Kids should see this fort as this is in their curriculum . Nothing very good to see except the steep steps. Nothing is preserved properly.

Rather than the fort we enjoyed the drive from Mahabaleshwar to Pratapgad more on our Thunder-Bird. Fort was as usual boring for me.

historical place : we had children aged 4-5 yrs still they all climbed 450 steps . quite amazing and breathtaking view of whole mahabaleshwar

I was staying at Brightland resort, and it took me at least one hour by car. Beware of ST buses while driving - they drive really fast with little regard for others. Get a guide at fort - you should be able to get one...More

You will find people living on both sides of the stairway leading all the way up to the top of the fort.The fort is fantastic but has lost its charm because of these hutments. Still, its worth visiting.

One of the oldest forts of Shivaji in fact where he killed Afzal Khan....need more maintenance but it is a worth seeing ...

Take some time to stroll around the fort. Good view points. Avoid sun if possible. Dont forget your sun block.

I have seen big buses go till the top . Should be a problem I guess !!!

Dear Manvarasha, you travelling to pratapgarah fort by taxi for four person taxi fare is 1500\rs and 8 person needed 2000\rs required and 3 to 4 hours required for entire fort visiting time minimum required.

Fort is around 20KM away from Mahabaleshwar where you can find many hotels/resorts.
