- poa97db27 contributionsBeautiful cave experienceBeautiful caves with clean water. We were lucky enough to have the whole place to ourselves (we arrived after lunch). The locals were welcoming and gave us a tips and stories about the caves. Definitely one of our fav Zanzibar experiences.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 21 December 2023
- harmatieniSzada, Hungary36 contributionsSecret attractionI think it’s not a typical program to visit this beautiful place. It’s not on the official offers of the hotel, but if you organize a trip for example to the Jamani or mangrove forest it’s worth to have another stop at this breathtaking cave. I am sure there are not too much places in the world where you can swim in a cave in clean freshwater. Not a typical tourist attraction, I was almost alone with my daughter. Enjoy it, we loved this “secret” attraction!Thank you so much for your kind words! We’re thrilled to hear that you and your daughter enjoyed your visit to Kuza Cave and experienced its unique charm. It’s wonderful to know that you appreciated the peaceful atmosphere and the opportunity to swim in the clear freshwater. We agree—Kuza Cave is a hidden gem, and we're glad you found it to be a special part of your Zanzibar trip. We hope to welcome you back in the future!Written 20 September 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 7 April 2024
- Ade O2 contributionsExcellentDid not do a tour, I rented a car and drove my family to the cave. This allowed us to stay as long as we wanted. Loved the experience, best experience we had in Zanzibar. Bring your high iso cameras, it can be a bit dark in there for photos. There are little beasties (searched for the name but couldn’t find it) in the water that bite you about every 15 mins. They are harmless and feels like a mosquito bite. I took a pic of one of them. Go visit it’s worth it, great experience!Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 20 September 2024

I think this is the kind of sigh which is more like a "touristic trap". Not because someone will harm you or press you to buy anything. That is not the case. But because it's just a small cave with fresh water and no one really provide any type of interesting information about the place.
No snorkelling at all because there is nothing to see in the water (no fish in fresh water) and also there is little sun light, so you can barely see anything bellow.
I payed 10$ p/ person and they say that I guide will take you and present you with some information about the cave. Not really. In fact you can read all the important information in the posters at the entrance. From there is just a group of people making out money out of a natural sight. They are more interesting in making money with souvenirs, playing music, or providing cooking classes, all related to the "local culture".
Personally, I think it's a waste of time. The only good thing it to swim in cold water, rather than the warm waters from the ocean. But even so, it doesn't worth 10$.

Ask a local to guide you here to get some local knowledge (Salim +255 621 126 636) will guide you and will give a tour of the local area. He also got me a good rate on changing dollars to shillings in the local shop. Get to Kuza early as it gets busy. You will only need a short time here though you can stay a while and have a drink and a meal.

It has been extraordinary experience! If you in Jambiani, its a must!

We really enjoyed our time in the Kuza cave. The weather was quite hot and being in this refreshing water was really enjoyable. The place is really nice, it reminded us of the cenotes in Yucatán. We paid 10$ per adult, kids under 12 pay half. There was almost no one, and we were there after lunch

We went to Kuza Cave during our stay in Zanzibar in November 2023.
The welcome was not friendly and we paid 20,000 shillings per person (around 8 euros).
After a few minutes of walking, we arrive at the cave which is reminiscent of Mexican cenotes.
Access is not set up to maintain the authenticity of the place, but a rope is nevertheless installed.
The place is beautiful, the water is pure, crystal clear and very good and it feels good when the weather outside is hot.
The cave is very small, without fish and an imposing stalagmite sits in the center.
Bring water shoes and a swimsuit and an hour or so on site.
WCs are available at the entrance.
We found the price high to be able to swim, especially since we had no explanation of the premises or activities offered (musical or other, contrary to what we have read in other comments).

The Kuza Cave is in a large sink hole near Jambiani. It is quite suitable for taking a swim which can be recommended as kind of a tranquil and peaceful experience. The water is not cold and there is a changing room available. On site are also some cultural experiences such explanations about the cave, an active Artist’s pavilion, a small swimming pool for chilling, and a Swahili cooking class. Altogether a nice trip for a few hours change of scenery from the gorgeous Jambiani beach.

Visited the Kuza Cave and went for a swim. It's very cold at first! But it's mesmerizing from the minute you get there till you're leaving. Once you get acclimatized to the water temp you simply don't want to get out. This has got to be the clearest water I've ever seen in a cave. A must visit!

We took a tuk-tuk from the hotel, entrance fee 10 USD (or 25,000 shillings per person) and were completely alone (three of us) in the cave. It was only when we left that other people arrived! It was a great experience to swim in the crystal clear, soft, cool water. You did have to climb a bit though and you couldn't go without swimming shoes. Not suitable for non-athletes at all! Afterwards there was a jam session, my husband played with the nicest guys and was thrilled! Our nice tuk-tuk driver was waiting for us!

Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience! We're glad to hear that you enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere of Kuza Cave and had the opportunity to swim in the refreshing water before the crowds arrived. It's great to know that your husband enjoyed the jam session with our talented musicians! We appreciate your note about the climbing and the need for water shoes—it's helpful advice for future visitors!

Hello !
I would like to visit this natural cave. My question is if free or you have to pay something to swim inside? How much is it ? How can I get there? I’m at Coral Rock Hotel now. Many thanks for your help.
Written 20 August 2019
I think the entry to the cave was probably $5 or $10 USD. Which supports the school on the property. You don't have to pay to get into the water but there are little critters that may/may not bite you. I was at Coral Rock hotel too! You'll need a driver, the cave isn't too fast but not walk-able.
