Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Swan Street, once an ugly industrial backstreet, is now full of stylish restaurants and retailers. Even low-budget KFC looks like something out of an interior design textbook. It's not all modernized; some of the grimy old Richmond pubs are stuck in their ways, but most bars have moved with the times. As for style, Maserati has a sparkling showroom that stocks Italian supercars, affordable only by the super-rich. If Maserati doesn't match your budget, try the Number 70 tram, or Richmond or East Richmond railway stations. I've been going down Swan Street for 20 years, and the change has been remarkable.

I hadn't been down Swan St for years, and found myself in this vicinity and strolled up one side and down the other, from Punt Rd, for a few hours.
It had a pretty cool feel about it on this pleasant Sunday afternoon, with 4 or 5 pubs and bars, and some pretty good looking eating places
Must get down to this location more often

Swan Street is a great spot to discover. Many of the traditional pubs have been renovated and reinvented (some better than others) and there are heaps of great restaurants and coffee shops.
It’s a great area to go to after the footy too.
Public transport is plentiful with Richmond and East Richmond train stations close by and the number 70 tram running along Flinders Street to the sports entertainment complex of the Tennis Centre/Rod Laver Arena/MGC/soccer stadium and Swan Street.

If you want to eat in Richmond, Swan Street is the place to go. Chinese, French, Greek, Vietnamese, Vegan - you name it and it’s there. I’ve yet to have a bad meal. If none of the above suits there is a dearth of coffee shops, the best bring Inward Goods just off Swan in Waverley St. Hotels add to the list with counter and restaurant meals.

Swan St Richmond is full of bars and restaurants to cater for those who want a quick bite or a longer stay. They are usually smaller venues and reasonably priced. The decor is not up market. Parking is at a premium and usually metered but there is plenty of public transport. Close to the MCG, tennis arenas and the soccer/rugby ground. One train stop from the city. Good place to meet before a game.

Spent a couple of nights in a Cremorne apartment 200 meters from Swan St precinct. The area has a divers range of restaurants, cafes and bars all within 500 meters. It is close to Melbourne's famous sporting precinct and short journey via public transport to CBD.

Location, location, location. Richmond is just outside Melbourne, easily accessible via train, tram and Uber---so close, yet still has that laid-back charm. There are many pubs, cafes, small shops, nooks and crannies to explore here. One can start breakfast with the locals at the pastry shops. Later in the day, enjoy Happy Hour. Or have Parma-Geddon for $14 on Wednesday nights. The neighborhood feels like it's in the cusp of change.

You will be hard pressed not to find something for everyone along this strip. Burgers galore, plus heaps of healthy options, such as Foxes Den and of course Feast of Merit. The Sweet tooth is not neglected either...who can beat Messina for the most sensational ice-cream creations known to man? Cakes and cookies, Vietnamese and Souvlaki plus Fish and Chips and Meatballs, it's all here!

Swan Street is to the south of Richmond. It is a strip shopping street, full of restaurants, cafes, and dress shops. Like other strip shopping areas, it is not controlled by a central landlord. If a shop is hot, it's hot, if it's not, it goes out of business and someone new takes over the lease.Swan Street is never static. You can take the number 70 tram down Swan Street of take any train that stops at Richmond Station. You can walk to Church Street, it will take around 20 minutes..
